About

Set 15 years before A Plague Tale: Requiem, play as Sophia, a fierce young plunderer, on the run but determined to uncover the secrets of her past. Dive into an original story blending combat, myth and fate with a brand new take in the universe of A Plague Tale.
Sophia’s journey leads to the Minotaur' Island, where she faces deadly trials, navigates treacherous trails, solves puzzles, all while fighting and staying one step ahead of the army chasing her. But the true challenge awaits, as the terrifying creature hidden behind the myth will soon resonate with her…

Sophia is a skilled, agile, and strong-willed fighter who engages in dynamic and violent melee combat. Followed by many enemies, each drawn to the Island to reclaim a mysterious treasure, you must navigate a treacherous maze. Rely on your agility, tricks and sharp reflexes to outsmart enemies, perfect your parries, and unleash powerful strikes to survive deadly encounters.

Shift between the Middle Age of Sophia and ancient Minoan times, where echoes of the past shape the battles of the present. Unfold a new story in the universe of A Plague Tale, through the entwined destinies of two heroes linked by fate and the Macula’s mysterious legacy.

Guided by the knowledge safeguarded in your notebook, follow in your crew’s footsteps to explore a richly detailed world, unravel its secrets, and face deadly trials. Use a stolen Minoan sphere to solve ingenious puzzles by manipulating light - a force woven by Daedalus into the island’s very heart.

It is said that only a few came back from the island. Lurking in the shadows lives a restless presence. It follows you around, seemingly knowing your every move, as it hunts through the island’s depths.
Every step is a risk. Every pause, a potential end. You can’t stop, only hide, outsmart, and push forward. Can you survive each trial and every step or will you join those who never came back?

Great game
My favourite entry in the series so far. The story is captivating, with memorable characters and emotional moments bought to life by great voice acting, especially Anna absolutely smashing it as Sophia (of course). The world is beautiful and interesting, with plenty to uncover and even more to enjoy looking at. The combat - while simple - is snappy, varied, and stylish in a way that never stopped being fun. The puzzles kept a nice pace for me: never frustrating, never filler, just engaging. One of the big things that makes this my favourite in the series is the lean toward action over stealth, as I just don't particularly enjoy stealth gameplay in general. While it's still present here, it didn't overstay it's welcome for me, and I found those sections more enjoyable than usual due to the other elements surrounding it. If you're interested in A Plague Tale but the stealth focus of the previous entries have kept you away: this is absolutely for you, and can be enjoyed without the context of the series.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is a fantastic evolution of the series and, in my opinion, one of Asobo Studio's most accomplished games yet. Visually stunning with a striking art direction and another incredible soundtrack by Olivier Derivière, it takes a more action-adventure approach than its predecessors, somewhere between Tomb Raider and Uncharted, with exploration, clever puzzles and faster, more arcade-like combat. It has a few frustrations, particularly puzzles whose logic can initially be difficult to read and exploration where it is not always clear whether a path leads to a collectible or irreversible story progression, but these are minor flaws in an adventure that constantly renews its gameplay. What truly stands out is its exceptional character writing and direction, from cutscenes to the natural conversations during exploration, and a story presented as a prequel that gradually reveals far deeper connections to A Plague Tale's mythology than expected, creating some genuinely great surprises along the way. After completing the game and getting 100% of the achievements, I came away feeling that Resonance is far more than the prequel it initially appears to be — Requiem already showed that A Plague Tale was growing beyond its influences, and Resonance confirms it. Asobo has built a universe with its own identity, capable of tackling difficult themes and standing alongside the studios that once inspired it.
