I love weird indie shooters. I really do. I especially love championing scrappy projects that feel like someone poured their heart into them. This isn’t that. Red Wake Carnage looks like chaotic arcade fun. Low-poly animals charging at you while you unload rifles and swing axes. It sounds ridiculous in the best way. In reality, it’s about ten minutes of repetition stretched as far as it can possibly go. Every enemy behaves the same. Every weapon feels weightless. There’s no escalation, no strategy, no surprise. Just numbers ticking upward. Let’s call it what it is. This is an achievement farm. If your goal is pumping up your Steam profile with a stack of easy unlocks, you can be done with this in under an hour. If your goal is actually enjoying a shooter, that’s where things fall apart. For something that looks this simple, it’s surprisingly unstable. I had menu freezes. I had hard closes. There’s no meaningful accessibility either. No button remapping. No font scaling. Limited FOV options. As a disabled gamer, that’s not a minor inconvenience. That’s a wall. There’s a version of this game that could have been a tongue in cheek cult oddity about nature fighting back. Instead it feels assembled, not designed. If you’re strictly an achievement hunter, you’ll get what you came for. If you value your time and your energy, skip it.
