Red Horizon is an addictive space shmup game. Heavily influenced by the classics of the past, Red Horizon takes a modern spin on the genre combining it with some subtle Rogue-like elements to provide players with a unique experience every time they play.
Revenue comes from in-game items and microtransactions, which our price-based model doesn't estimate. The player count below is how many people own it, not what they spent.

This game feels like it was made in the developer's spare time, and whilst it gets some grace for this overall this is not a good game. The game is a shmup with a permadeath system. Whilst the game is fairly short only having 16 levels and a final boss stage, the rogue-like permadeath adds very little to the game only to serve making an already tricky game harder. You can experience all the 5 varieties of enemies and all the upgrades in a single run. The music is a nice little chiptune which works fine and doesn't feel out of place. The art style is a bit simple, but works well to show the differences between enemies. The background feels lacking in some sort of variation, but it is understandable in not wanting to clutter up the play area. The "hyperspace starfield" effect which looks like some sideways falling snow did not look great and added very little to the feel of the game. The upgrades were fine. Nothing too exciting or interesting here, just the standard triple shot, speed and drop increase, and so on. I felt the game would have appreciated more in level drops. Currently there are only health and shield drops, classic upgrades like an invincibility, increased fire speed, or quad damage would be nice additions. The controls are very simple, just forward, backwards, turn left and right, and shields. You ship constantly shoots which can make lining up shots on enemies tricky before you get some fire speed upgrades. I did find it most effective to just reverse everywhere so you can hit the ships that ram at you. There is no weight to the movement and your ship can turn on a dime making fine movement easier. Overall for £0.79 it is a cheap game that can be fun for an hour. However I cannot find myself recommending this game. Red Horizon is a pretty bland game with a lack of variety in enemies, upgrades or challenge.

There's a reason such a small percentage of players have the "complete game" achievement. The reason is that it's just not interesting enough to press forward with.

This is a poor quality, low effort ripoff of a game called SpaceWar! developed in 1962. Control a simple "spaceship" from a 2D top down view, steering and using your thruster to propel forwards. Other ships appear and need to be shot or they will shoot you and you will run out of lives. The only additions from the original SpaceWar! are a simple upgrade system, simplistic/cartoony graphics for the ships, and a larger number of enemies overall. The game crashes if you select 4K resolution so that falls beneath minimum quality standard here. The bigger problem is the overall concept here. If you develop a video game, deliberately ripping off a video game that's 48 years old, yet don't significantly improve on the original concept despite 48 years of advancements in computing, that really should be taken as a sign you just don't have the talent as a game developer to conceptualise a game properly, let alone deliver on the concept. This game is not worth any money, you can play better games in a web browser for free. Thumbs down.
not a fan of the controls and i can't be bothered to even get halfway through the game. i appreciate the effort though, i can tell there was a solid attempt at this, especially under the conditions which it was being made
I think this is a joke. I could make a similar game in few hours using a free framework like Godot -- and it will be surely more enjoyable. After seeing that I think I will!
The gameplay is slow, the soundtrack is not up to par.
