Challenging was an understatemen. Even on the "easy/regular mode", some of the sections where stealth was your way to get by, didn't even matter because the animatronics would spot you easily, ESPECIALLY Moon Bear. it was incredible frustrating at times and tbh, I almost gave up wanting to finish the game. The concept is intriguing! It's very poppy playtime meets SAW, and heavy on the SAW influence i would say. If you got the patience and you like a challenge, I'd say give it a shot.
Even with all the AI assets I was playing the game asking myself, is the game fun. Were their creative things about the game. I argue yes there are. The first half of the game was fun I liked trying to figure out some of the puzzles. Even in hindsight some of the more difficult parkour parts were fun. It wouldn't be fair to give this game a bad review for a difficult section that was my fault for the difficulty. Overall I recommend the game. The puzzles aren't overly contrived the parkour maybe could use some tweaking and the story was decent too. It's also not overly scary either. The animatronics are intimidating enough and reminded me a lot of secret of the mimic. The wolf wasy favorite. The final mission of the game without a walkthrough takes a really long time so unless you got 6 hours to spend on a game if you wanna beat it in one session I'd recommend beating it in two sessions.
What could have such good gameplay and a cool story, is ruined with the laziest and worst development I've ever seen. Let's start with laziness. In the revolving room. You cannot touch the smooth side of the concrete spikes. I dare the devs to touch real concrete on the smooth side and see if they get stabbed. Oh, this is just a game right? Then why doesn't the smooth concrete you walk on in the game stab you? Exactly. Second, in that same room, you cannot run across the revolving platform. It does not speed you up, it fights you as if you were running against it. I understand going against the revolution, but across? No stop it. You can certainly run across a revolving platform faster than what the game makes it out to be. The game is built to be difficult, which I appreciate. But the terrible design and laziness of this game is beyond ridiculous. Also, when getting hurt, many times the character acts as if nothing happened and you can keep control of the character, other times it's like a lame Mission Impossible explosion scene where the character stumbles for 72 days and is super dramatic and uncontrollable about it. The hit boxes throughout this game are some of the jankiest and laziest hit boxes I've ever seen. How hard is it to make the hit boxes follow the pattern of the graphic and that's it? If you can't figure that out, do not make another game. Millions of other games have been developed with far better hit boxes. This game has been out for a while now and you cannot tell me the devs haven't seen these issues before this review. They think they did a good job and that's it. I really wanted to look forward to chapter 2, but if it's going to be the same under developed, lazily developed game, then no thanks. I have played and beaten this game several times on story mode and normal mode. So I'm not just some angry gamer who can't beat it. I really wanted to love this game, but this is beyond ridiculous with the way this game was made. The controls and timing response to the controls is really bad. When running in the lake labyrinth room, your character can be looking left and still fall to the right, even after taking several steps. The strafing, while it does exist, is beyond slow to strafe. And what in the world is with the short breath in this game? Man oh man, if you added no more than 2 seconds of breath to what you currently have, it'd still be a difficult game but actually manageable. Plenty of batteries, plenty of health, and overall an amazing story and puzzles. I even completed the optional puzzles. Like I said, I wanted to love this game, but the terrible and lazy development is what ruins this game. Tell you what, fix the revolving room, and make the labyrinth lake paths a tad wider since the strafing is garbage and you'll have a great, difficult game. One that I and many others would love. Because the controls are super slow to respond, jumping in the revolving room over the spikes is hit or miss on if it's done correctly or not.
