Repetitive and unfun. Dishonorable mentions go to:

The zoom system, automatic only with no manual override, will ruin your situational awareness and make it really hard to adjust your aim when an enemy spawns on the opposite side.
The lag spike every single time you lose a train cart, another dev that seems to believe "optimization" equals adding IL2CPP and calling it a day.
The aimpoint not actually pointing where you shoot, in part due to some inherent offset in part to unhelpful autoaim (especially noticeable with the laser weapon).
The way your weapon loadout gets replaced seemingly at random when you start a new round.
The difficulty system, game progression is based on score and low difficulties lower it so much they end up being the hardest in practice.
A Must have nonsense shooter !!!
You don't need to be a AAA studio to make a game that's fun. There aren't a whole lot of 100% free games out there on Steam that are actually fun, but this is one of them. The very basic storyline to set up the gameplay is somewhat solid, the actual physics-based gameplay and destruction feel satisfying, and all the unlockable stuff keeps the game feeling fresh since you get a new weapon/upgrade every other match if you actually try. The people who hate on this game fail to realize that it's an entire game for free that SOME effort clearly was put into; if said want to scream so much that the game is practically "My first Unity game" slop, they should go see if they could make something better.
Fun free rail shooter
Meh. Doesn't feel enjoyable or rewarding: tanky mobs, wet sponge guns, ammo that takes forever to replenish. Could be used as a free demo to test VR but that's about it.
Rail Gunner is fun, fast, and immediately engaging. The concept is simple but executed really well: protect the rear of a moving train at all costs. What makes it shine are the little details — enemy animations feel extremely realistic and satisfying, whether they’re sprinting toward you or tumbling into the dust after being shot in the legs. The weapon progression is equally rewarding, keeping you coming back for “just one more run.” Easy to pick up, hard to put down — Rail Gunner is a great mix of straightforward action and addictive replayability. Good indie game!
