An incredibly fun deckbuilder where you're taking the role of a shopkeeper, and as such, the mechanics of the game are crafted to match that conceit. Instead of combat with attacks against enemies, you're selling items to customers, and this is translated extremely well within the game's design, and not simply putting on a skin for the aesthetic. When selling items, those cards, unless upgraded to be "restockable," are permanently removed from your deck, creating a really interesting dynamic with each customer encounter. Do you sell your items for the money upfront but risk losing a really valuable item that could potentially be upgraded and sold for even more to someone else? Do you stock pile on a slew of little items to be sold in bulk to many customers? Do you spend a day upgrading these items, risking losing business from customer encounters but making future days better? Instead of the cards being things that you simply use to finish the encounter and expect to be a constant, they are a dynamic part of your deck and with every decision you make, which mirrors the tension, excitement and strategy of being a shopkeeper who needs to hit a goal each week. Aside from the card and deck system there are a slew of ways to make each run unique, like different deocrations for your shop that add modifers (and change the apperance of the shop, a very charming detail), being able to handcraft the customers you encounter in your shop (which then lends you to be able to create "builds" and better plan your shop to be able to cater towards your customer base, something that feels extremely unique in a deck builder, being able to not only build your deck but even who you "fight"), and random events that might change how customers react to your items. There's a lot here to play with and with such a unique concept executed this well, I think its quite worth it to check out if you're a fan of deckbuilders and want a spin on the classic concepts you might be familiar with

Raccoons to Riches is a very dynamic deckbuilder where your deck is an ever-shifting selection of merchandise and tactics. You can curate your customers to try to target your deck to what they like. When you buy new merchandise, there's always an element of randomness as to what you're going to get - so you can try to target specific builds, so you may get a perfect card that you can restock every day and you may get a card that you can't wait to sell to some chump to get it out of your deck. There's daily quests, items that give you bonuses, random encounters, and random events, all which can give you buffs or debuffs that may effect how you play your deck, but since your deck is ever changing, you can try to pivot or build up your deck to make the items more valuable despite the potential debuffs. There's a lot to do and balance, and they can more difficult as you get deeper into the run, giving you time to learn out the different mechanics and how to adapt to these changes. It's a delight!! (I applied for and received a streamer key :3 I encountered a few bugs pre-launch, and the dev was delighted to fix them for me!! It's always a pleasure to find a dev excited to fix bugs and see how you're playing and try to make a part of it smoother!)
I love it! Each run takes 45mins to 1+hr depending on difficulty, I love the setting and the music! Cards seemed balanced from first playthru, but have not tested higher difficulties. Character art is cute, I love the little raccoon guys!
A wonderful game! Easy to get in to. Clear, concise tutorial. I found it quite challenging when bumping up the difficulty level, but very rewarding to finally get past that first roadblock. Unlocking a new class is harder than I thought, and the in-game achievements for unlocks are laid out well. Cannot recommend enough if you like cosy games, raccoons, or roguelike deck builders. Personally I would love some small carryover from game-to-game, but that's just me sulking about it getting harder (completely optional), but I have no idea if there is a roadmap for features like this.
I'm enjoying this game. It's a deck builder with a lot of enjoyable synergies as you have to manage your shop wares (goods and sales tactis), decor (permanent buffs that trigger on X), customer base (they can mess with your hand and you can buy goods off of them - they're also a separate deck you can manage). The Bad - Tutorial didn't do a good job teaching the mechanics of the game (I didn't learn how to manage customer base until I unlocked CITY difficulty) - Gamepad support is wonky, especially with the tutorial popping up you sometimes can't exit Minor Issue - At the start of your shop day you have to click on your shopkeeper to pick a "quest" (one of 3 bonus objectives that give you a perk ranging from cash to cards, typically mottos or tactics, to decor. They're always worth looking at/doing) and I definitely forgot to click on the raccoon more than a number of times despite the yellow exclamation mark over his/her head The Good - Easy going visuals actually makes this relaxing and easy enough to put down if you need to. - A good amount of depth but simple enough to start figuring out synergies right away - So cute - Early days are hard as its difficult to decide which direction you want to build towards and you have very limited resources (cash + word of mouth used to upgrade your cards/remove cards and increase customer base) however once you get going its easy enough to manage against the rent ramp up - Until City difficulty which is where the true fun begins IMO - The different characters change up the game big time. So far I'm really enjoying the potion seller start because of a mechanic that allows you to transform your potions into a different goods type. A bit of random chaos that you have to navigate through the use of tactic cards - a fun puzzle that is really rewarding once you figure it out. I really enjoyed my time with this game so far. I haven't beaten CITY mode yet but I'm looking forward to trying my hand on a rainy day (today actually hehehehehehe). Thank you for reading my review and I hope you all have enjoyable days ahead of you.
A lot of the card-based games out there (including roguelites like this) are inspired by card games, but this is one of the few that feels like it actually could be a real tabletop card game. The card interactions are clear and well-defined (helped out by a nice tooltip system) but there is just enough complexity here to keep things engaging and interesting. It's quite easy to pick up and, on lower difficulties, is a fairly easy game. But, I feel like there's enough variety here to more than justify the modest asking price, so I highly recommend giving it a try!
I'm not sure the replayability is super high for me personally, but this is definitely worth the price of entry. It is very charming and it is really great to play a deckbuilder that takes such a unique mechanical approach in a wide sea of spire-likes, and it succeeds very much in integrating the mechanics into its theming in a great way.
Raccoons to Riches is a delightful roguelike deckbuilder that does a fantastic job of investing you into running a little shop and then quickly figuring out the best way to squeeze every last coin out of your clients to boost your deck and make the weekly rent. There's a lot of room to change your business strategies between each day as you craft, upgrade, and even buy your customers' items to try and turn them around for a profit, or visit the shoppe to restock your goods, court new clients, or grab a key tactic card. I've had a lot of fun on multiple runs slowly working my way up from selling basic items to high-tier goods - that combined with a deck of curated and upgraded tactics - sell for tens of thousands of coins and completely eclipse the weekly rent requirements. Plus, selling literal trash for thousands to some silly customer after you've haggled it to seem like like literal gold is a wonderful experience. Even at max difficulty, the game was very fair and fun to beat! If you're looking for a fun, approachable, and deep shopkeeper deckbuilder, Raccoons to Riches has plenty to offer!
very unique deckbuilding game, very fun, and the art is adorable!
So far this is a nice, fun roguelike deckbuilder! A lot of charm and a nice concept. The game feels nicely balanced on a mechanical level and it seems like there is a lot of depth to explore. I didn't realize you had to keep buying items to replace the ones you sold so I almost got into a sticky situation but I managed to make my first rent payment.
