Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
13 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 2.71/day in the week to Sep 3 → 6/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Reviews
Despite how cumbersome it is to run on modern machines, it somehow works absolutely flawlessly out of the box on the Steam Deck. No idea what kinda black magic is going on there, but I’ll take it if it means I get to role play as an edgy, violent piece of walking Japanese Hentai.
不用多说,庞大的剧情,流畅的操作,唯一可惜的就是生错了年代,为爱补票

13 on sale2 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 2 “not sold” markets are read from the Steam price pass of Sep 7: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price in those. The 13 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Childhood memories, my god this game is still amazing.. I love it. WE NEED A PROTOTYPE 3 NOW
The game does not work out of the box, but one copy-paste mod will get it running at 1080p with no further issues. Terrible stand-alone product on Steam. As for the game, people should be shouting from the rooftops for a remake. The mechanics are all phenomenal concepts and they do keep you engaged and are fun for a while before the jank and the lack of polish start getting in the way of more precise maneuvering. Combined with the good-ish existential story (if a bit heavy on the US military jargon garbage side) it's definitely worth a weekend on sale (20 bucks is steep for the state of the stand-alone sell). Everything here has been done better since in other games but no other game has combined all these mechanics this tightly. A properly made remake by a competent and passionate developer would make history, unfortunately we're probably stuck with "Ubisoft Connect" and "Iron Galaxy Studios" ... eh.
- It should've been free - Game is not meant to be played on anything that has more than 8 core CPU or a GPU that has more than 2GB of VRAM. I've wasted some time to make it work through DXVK, since available mod fixes were crashing the game on startup (probably because they're outdated or some game version mismatch). Buying this is screwing yourself over, don't recommend.
I skimmed the red reviews this game has, and they’re mostly about the technical difficulties. It worked like a charm for me on Steam Deck, it was just utterly miserable to play. It’s a shame because the core mechanics are mostly great. Tearing some army guys apart is fun, traversal is some of the most enjoyable I’ve seen, and all of it doesn’t really matter because the mission design is absolutely atrocious. All main missions are about three times longer than they should be, and most of them are about doing something mind-numbing. Why are we protecting tanks for freaking eternity in a game about being a biomass murder machine? Whose bright idea was making us endure an hour-long stretch when we lose all powers in the middle of the game? Why is 70% of the encounters against the lamest and most annoying mutants ever made by human beings? Why is EVERYTHING in this game staggers our super duper leathal edgy protagonist? It’s not even all that challenging most of the time - it just becomes a chore really fast. I’ll be honest, I gave up when I saw the stagger-o-throne Elizabeth Greene fight. I’m convinced that this never made it into testing, I’ve got no other explanation. Saints Row 4 is a better Prototype game, and I’m not sorry in the slightest.
Completed the game on my PS4 a few years back now. Honestly I really enjoyed this game. I loved playing as Alex and feeling like a tank that moves super fast. Tearing through all my enemies like they were made of butter. Solid story overall but the main selling point is being a one man army and destroying everything in your path.
The game still stands strong even today, if you download the fix from nexus the game will run just fine, the gameplay is still good, combat it's unique, one of the best older action game.
