About

Project Absentia is a retro FPS inspired by 2000s-2010s flash animations and sprite comics, with vertical, aerial, elemental combat as the main focus.
You play as Abby, an angel who has been captured by the Orkan Corporation, along with her girlfriend Aurora, and her best friend Orion. You break free of your captors, but your friends are still captive. Armed with only a Tommy Gun, your gliding abilities and your wits, you must jump and glide and move around to get the high ground against your enemies. They don't know who they're messing with, and no one messes with Abby.
Huge levels focused on emulating physical locations - lived-in mines, castles, apartments, entertainment districts, derelict ships and more.
A huge armory - tons of weapons lying around. Use the Hailer to freeze your enemies. Missile Launchers blow your enemies apart. Drain health with the man-eating plant known as Blitzcraig. Use the trusty double-barreled shotgun to shred your foes. Oh, and make 'em taste the rainbow with the Rainbowitzer. Just to name a few!
Interactive elements - vending machines, breakable glass, mini-golf, water coolers, mirrors, just to name a few! Feel free to play with the environment.
Fully voice acted cast - with a broad cast of characters
Accessibility options - subtitles, speech control, adjustable FOV, and so much more.

Great boomer shooter! Bit meme-y but I like it. I can't wait for the full release!
Aside from the adorable aesthetics and graphical style, this game has a lot going for it gameplay wise too! There's some unique movement ideas in there with a gliding/hovering kinda move that's fun to use, and the weapon arsenal is really cool and has a bunch of unique weapons, sporting a similar system to Rise Of The Triad where you swap out weapons and only carry one at a time, with not that much ammo, but the game really expects you to use your weapons as much as possible, and there's also a bunch new ones waiting, so it works really well. It's genuinley quite fun, and one of the more unique and challenging shooters I've played in a while. Very excited for chapter 2!

This has to be one of the worst game i played this year. there are way better games that uses the Gzdoom engine. the visuals of the game looks so boring. very bland. the main character is so smug, I hate her looks, voice (her voice is like sandpaper to my ears i can't stand it), personality, and her overall features as a character. overall i do not have any positive things to say about this game. I would not recommend it to any of my pals.
FANTASTIC BOOMER SHOOTER WITH A UNIQUE ART STYLE ! REALLY GOOD GUN PLAY AND UBER VIOLENT. GAME RUNS BUTTER SMOOTH. ITS A SIMPLE GAME AND DOES WHAT ITS TRYING TO DO VERY WELL. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT
If you had a childhood playing Doom and Quake and your teen years were spent listening to musical theatre and drawing webcomics, this game is for you.
I would say this is a rather unique gzdoom engine game in both art and play style. and sure while there is some odd stuff here and there and the interact mirror boss in the first level can be a tough one to get past sometimes, the game play is really fun when you get into it. the levels get bigger and better as you go (3rd one being what sold me on the game), and jumping really high and gliding through the air while blowing up and blasting enemies to pieces leads to quite a good time. the movement is especially what I like in the game. Abby's fast, she jumps really high, glides through the air and dashes like crazy. you then mix that with a couple dozen enemies at once and you're gliding and dashing all over the place while laying a barrage of rockets and bullets everywhere in sight. There is also of course lots of good humor and parody references through out the game that are satisfying to see as you progress through the levels, as well as a lot of secrets that are decently done in that they're not super hard to find but you do need to keep an eye out and look for them.
I think the flippantly short version is "It's like Hedon made by a Newgrounds kid". Gameplay is good enough, it's hyper-mobile GZDoom with an arsenal that rapidly cycles through the various weapon pickups. But there are so many retro shooters I'd rank above this, from Ion Fury to Hedon to Selaco to Zortch. It is actually kind of nice to not be worrying about any upgrade systems or progression mechanics or whatever in a game for once. Just play the level, beat the level, done.

A fantastic retro shooter with classic FLASH-style visuals. It incorporates plenty of brilliant design elements from ROTT. The developer canceled the originally planned three chapters due to health issues and other circumstances, and the game now concludes with just two main chapters. Still, it’s great to see the full official release finally come out
