Fell in love with the last game, and already loving the changes in this one. Only football game I ever play anymore.

The game sucks. I love sports manager games and this one absolutely sucks,, The ONLY way to edit anything is when starting a new game. Someone said this looks and plays like OOTP but that couldn't be FURTHER from the truth. The game is bare, the gameplay is ridiculously idiotic. 60 overall teams beating 88 overall teams and playing consistently well against them just proves how lackluster and trash the game engine and simulation is. I HATE trash sports manager games like this. No options, nothing fun about it. Save your money and don't waste your time on this TRASH video game.

I recommend the game but with an Asterisk as I would give it a neutral 3 out of 5 stars. The ability to modify so many things coach, watch or sim is some of the best I have seen in awhile...but there are also huge holes. No trading, waiver wire pickups or salary caps. Although you can turn it off, some of your best players retire before 30.(I turned this feature off) Pros So very much to can tweak and modify. Nice to be able to Coach, sim or watch. Enjoy ability to Draft manually Cons No Salary Cap No Trades No Waiver pickups during season Injuries, fumbles, missed extra points/field goals not in line with percentages. I have enjoyed playing, but only when I have accepted the huge pieces missing. If it had Salary Cap, Trades and Waiver pickups during the season it would be an easy recommend. Lets hope they keep tweaking and improving.

I had 480+ hours playing last years version.. I will have even more playing this year. I encourage everyone to do as much research as possible before buying a game to make sure it matches your expectations. Saying that.. I can't find another game that feels as real as this one does playing out games. There are far more in depth roster management games out there to be sure. It has some simplistic GM duties but if you enjoy the chess matches of playing out games, guessing what your opponent is up to, you can't beat this game.

I was really excited for this game, however there were way too many issues that made me refund the game. First of all, the game wouldn't allow me to click to draft or for free agency, just scouts and that's all. Secondly, many times during gameplay it freezes or it just has players tackling in an endless loop where I have to quit game because the skip button didn't work. The ticker also never worked for the game either, so that kills immersion.

I've played this game for the past several years and it continues to get great improvements each year. If you're looking for the coaching - X's and O's side of things, there is no better football option with the depth and complexity of play calling. Similarly, if you're the type who likes historical replay, to try to replay or rewrite history with your favorite teams and leagues of the past, this game is also great for that. The above game styles don't particularly appeal to me, as I'm more of a career mode guy who likes to play in fictional leagues and develop my own history and world and see career rises and fall. While the game is certainly not on the level of say Out of the Park Baseball in terms of career mode depth/customization/functionality, it is quite a nice, streamlined package for career mode and the developer continues to add new items to this side of things each year that help with immersion. The waiver draft is new this year, and provides another nice boost for player movement, with at times a very solid player being able to move on to a different team where he can play more of a role. The free agency system is basic, but also allows for a method for player movement. Having everything as an option with several ways to play helps. If you're someone who wants to control the action on the field with a controller, or want cutting-edge graphics, this game is not for you... but the on-field representation provides a nice throwback feel and does a good job of providing greater immersion (versus say a straight text sim where results are just written on screen) The developer Kerry is extremely responsive and in tune with the community. He consistently listens to suggestions and adds things to the game based on player feedback. The game certainly isn't perfect (but I'd say stability and bug wise it's a game that consistently releases better than many of its peers), but it's a very immersive and in-depth football sandbox that is a lot of fun.
