a really good game. i mean it. the puzzles are interesting, easy, and hard. bring your brain through a journey of complicated puzzles, easy puzzles, and of course: the story. portal is what happened before portal 2(you may have heard about the game). BUT I have to warn you: the game can give you an headache... have fun!

Clever, highly unique, and a dash of auto-tune delivered robot's comedy. One of Valve's beloved classics for a reason. Who would've guessed one of the all-time best first-person shooters would be entirely pacifist? The puzzles are well balanced and give a decent challenge without being overly frustrating or complicated to solve. The game is short enough to beat in a single sitting of a few hours, but still very worthwhile. Plus it's like $1 on sale. And there is a challenge mode to beat some of the later levels with fewest steps, fewest portals used, or best time, as well as a harder advanced version of those levels with more restrictions and re-designed strategies. I really enjoyed the ending too. The reward for completing all the trials is to go outside the system, use all the tricks and strategies you've learned from the trials to navigate the internals of the base, which felt very Half-Life sneaking around the innards of the facility where you shouldn't be. And there are a few references to Black Mesa lying around. Bonus points for the stylistic end credits. Catchy theme tune, and the cake became an internet meme for a reason. Definitely a game I recommend for all players and all ages.

the better of the two portals. Portal 1 is able to land the unease and freakiness much better than 2 and feels more easily compatible with the wider Half-Life universe. Portal 2 feels like circus with every other joke feeling more like a dark humor stand-up routine and less like a minor chuckle to make you think less for a short moment about the horror of what the ♥♥♥♥ is actually going on here and what you're really involved in. Portal 2 is still a lovely game with some impeccable humor, but i personally prefer the unexplained/uneasy/creepy tone rather than comedy centric one. it also just feels so tonally different to 1 that it probably should've been set in a different universe/alternate dimension rather than trying shoehorn it in with everything else as if nothing is different.
