Your first watch begins beneath the African sun. Beyond the walls of Carthago, the road stretches towards provinces you have never seen and battles you have never fought. You are Aurelius, an ordinary soldier with a home to return to and a frontier to defend.
Porta Westfalica is a historically inspired tower-defense game that follows your rise from frontier guard to commander across seven regions of the Roman world. Every posting takes you farther from familiar ground. Every promotion places more lives in your hands.
THE EMPIRE LOOKS DIFFERENT FROM ITS EDGE
Feel the unease of the Syrian frontier, where dust on the horizon may be a caravan or an approaching army. Stand beneath the grey skies of Britannia, gazing beyond Hadrian’s Wall towards what feels like the end of the known world. Deep in Germania, listen for the whispers of tribes hidden among the trees, where the forest conceals more than it reveals.
Your journey leads through the highlands of Judea, across the Alpine passes and into the northern forests, towards a final stand at Porta Westfalica. Short story interludes follow Aurelius through the years of his service, while an interactive world map invites you to explore ancient landmarks and discover the world beyond the battlefield

A narrow pass. An exposed road. A winding approach through dense woodland. Study the terrain and choose the defenses that make the most of it. Position archers, deploy siege weapons and support your towers with troops, building a line whose strengths work together.
Spend your gold with purpose. Reinforce a vulnerable approach, upgrade a position that commands the road, or hold resources for the next assault. A moment of hesitation can leave a gap where your defenses once stood.
Across handcrafted battlefields and regional boss encounters, new enemies will test the habits that brought you this far. Adapt your tactics, learn from the ground you lose and earn the command entrusted to you. What worked beneath the African sun may fail in the northern forests.
