About
Poco is a 2D/3D hybrid point-and-click adventure game where you play as Poco, a two-inch tall clown who is banished from a giant walking circus, and left to fend for themselves in the undergrowth of the Below World, where they befriend and enlist the help of the local homunculus population to build a rocket.
Explore the beautiful, cluttered Below World... Where everything broken, lost, or unwanted from the Worlds Above comes to decay.
Find items, solve puzzles, and engage in interactive minigames to complete quests.
Meet and befriend a cast of 5 homunculi: bizarre little creatures representing the 5 senses.
Enjoy the deliciously detailed 2D painted backgrounds and joyously cartoony 3D animation.
I would have loved to see more
It's a student project, so we shouldn't be expecting a whole lot, especially considering that it is a free game to play. Basically. It's a 45 minute journey, following the point and click genre of years past, which have been creeping up ever slowly over the last few years, plenty do it very well, others fail to captivate for one reason or another. Poco is just... It's really well designed visually, love the backgrounds, love the main character, especially the circus clowns in the very beginning, but I feel like because this was more or less similar to what we get with game jams, a game that was probably created in the time frame of a month, we don't get good closure, good story, good gameplay, outside of a handful of different encounters, which are once again more of a visual spectacle of nostalgia.
Peoples Issue
A lot of people seem to think the mini-games were awful because THEY, the player couldn't ace them. I think they fail to understand the obvious basic here. This isn't a game about THEM. It's a story about POCO. Do you know what they suffer from? Performance anxiety, nervouseness. Have these people ever once thought of that outside of their own selfish desire to be the best at everything without the sense of failure to achieve something, to put themselves in the mind of someone who is inferior and who may never be perfect? No. I don't think they do. While some people may say, the mini-games not fun, it showed us that Poco themselves were struggling, no matter how good they might be beneath the surface, it gave me the sense that Poco is just a little fella that simply was not designed to take on so much stress in one sitting, think of it as a fingerslipping, or their lost their balance, don't treat it like a developer flaw, because to me it really brought the world more into itself.
Conclusion
My only real concern was the music was a bit too loud, too repetitive, didn't bring the atmosphere together in a meaningful way, turning it down did help to aleviate the problem, but still could have been better, but not much else to say on it as I can brush it aside as something that was brought up due to the lack of time they had to create it. I wouldn't classify it as overwhelmingly positive, but still very much a great game, even in all of it's imperfect designs. Great little game, cute story and art style with good humor if a bit dark. Definitely worth a play!
I've played payed games much worse than this masterpiece. Honk honk.
Poco is a short point and click game that takes about two hours to play, it is a surprisingly beautiful game with a very heartfelt story about a little clown named Poco. it is 100% worth your time playing this game, plus the game is free!
funny little clown
Genuinely a charming and memorable game. It has a very powerful message behind it's story that, in all honesty, made me cry. The enviornment is stunning and well made. The game was easy, yet enjoyable! Thank you to the creators who put the obvious love and care it took to create such a wonderful little game!
Jogo incrível, cenário lindo e as músicas são adoráveis, é um jogo curto e muito fofo. Vale muito a pena pra quem gosta de point-and-click.
