Really fun game with a super large mastery gap. So many cool tech you can discover and and perform. vibes are great and music is solid, especially world 3 and 4s. Very reminiscent of spelunky, where skill is the first and foremost important part which is very appreciated in the "Rogue" genre where every game tries to make the player character as op as possible. though like all games, I do have critiques ofc. My main one being the visuals for the power ups you have on you, its too small and hard to see. maybe dedicate a button to it on MnK like Tab or make the powerups more visible and easier to see. add an option to show health above player character to ease eye strain from having to look from character to hp bar so often, especially when taking your eyes off the player is such a dangerous thing to do. and then some more clarification on certain things like the boom crates quest. The game doesn't really have a good way to show what a boom crate is. is it the one that blows up in all cardinal directions or just the horizontal ones? I'd add a lil clarification on that by adding the text "BOOM" on the boxes that are with that quest. overall very happy with the game, hope the game does well and has move major updates in the future (a horizontal stage where you can swing and stuff would go hard) 8/10, would get sniped by a frog from low orbit and thrown into an incinerator again

Nice challenging game that you would just keep coming back to. It has a big potential of speedrunning. There are these dwellers, that you will randomly stumble upon to whrere they REALLY LOVE POTS so you will bring them to them and they will give you something i return. Not everything is explained, like how to plant a seed, but these things are minor in the whole aspect of a game. The art is beautiful and soundtrack as well. Would really appreciate some diary, where after encountering some THINGS in the game it would be explained what it is or some flavor text for it. All and all I really like this game and after playing the demo for couple of hours I really had to buy the full version :)
TL;DR: A brutally hard ADHD game with production values worth a solid A+ Do you like a challenge? Go for it, this is exactly it. Do you hate frustration? Better go back to Solitaire. :) The temple is sinking, the only way is up, and the hook is your best friend and your worst enemy at the same time. You make split-second decisions, you die a lot, and you instantly hit "one more try". A seriously well-crafted indie game — animations, feedback, sound, controls and the overall technical execution are all top notch. Recommended. But not for the faint of heart.
Decent game, much harder than the colourful cartoony art style would suggest. I would recommend picking it up in a sale if you think it looks interesting. I think it's pretty close to the sort of game I would sink hours into as a "just one more run" kind of game but I think it's just lacking the impetus to keep trying over and over again for me to recommend it for nearly full price. I appreciate that the devs seem to want to prioritise a sense of mystery and discovery, but I think there may have been a few instances of categorising "lack of information" as "mystery". For example, there's a bunch of different gold trinkets which aren't really differentiated that clearly. I don't know what a golden skull does compared to a golden mask or tablet or whatever else. Do they perhaps just give a different amount of coins, or are they all different items for the same bonus? The player can't be expected to infer absolutely everything, especially in a game that quite clearly wants the player to move quickly, rather than pause to think or experiment. As another example, there's also an NPC who wants you to destroy "boom crates", but even when I've destroyed every explosive crate between her and the start, she still says this. It just leads to confusion since you don't know what the devs intend as a secret and what just hasn't been adequately communicated, which teaches the player not to read too much into the distinctions between tiles or items and so on, which in turn leads to a less interesting game experience. The multiple ways that the pit can start sinking quite fast, combined with the combo points for fast climbing, and lines like "see you at the top, slowpoke" at the start, suggest that the game wants you to be climbing as quickly as possible, but there's also NPCs like the glorp ♥♥♥♥♥♥ blue guy who really likes pots, where I'm pretty sure it wants you to break boxes to get pots to give him, but that involves intentionally slowing yourself down to go and find pots in the surrounding boxes, which is counterintuitive. I think it'd be better to have NPCs like this hold their inventory over multiple runs, so that when seeing them again a few runs later I can feel excited knowing I've given him a couple of things already, and try to throw a pot or two at him and see what it leads to. Sort of relates to the earlier point of just lacking the impetus to keep trying over and over. But it's still a decent game and I had fun playing it for a few hours. It's a good platformer if nothing else, with fun precise movement and quick decision making and interesting obstacles. Thumbs up. Also runs buttery smooth on Linux which is always worth praising.
I had the honor of working on Pit Panic for the past two months before its release, but that won't change the outcome of this review. Pit Panic is rather simple: WASD to move, Space to jump, destroy blocks, and make a path. Simple, right? Well, yes, but add a sinking temple into the mix, along with hand-made levels that create some pretty interesting chaos scenarios, and some blocks that do something extra and you will panic (get it? heh). Because it's simple, it's easy to pick up but hard to master. And you will want to master it, because you'll quickly become hooked. Yes, the game has its flaws. For example, some things could be explained better to the player, or it could have some kind of glossary that updates with each new and repeated encounter. However, part of the design choice is mystery, exploring and figuring things out your own way, which is quite charming. Even after playing the game for two months, I just learned new things that I won't spoil, because I want you to experience the game exactly how it was intended. In summary, the core gameplay is simple, and thanks to that, the devs were able to smooth out the edges. I am happy I could help in its final sprint to release. While explaining some thing to the player could still be a bit better, the mystery is a core part of the design, making it a hard thing to balance. Overall, I cannot wait to see the future of this game!
It's so pretty and there is a LOT of gameplay depth here
Lil pre-review notice! I played on Steam Deck with a PS4 controller on bluetooth and had no performance issues! I'm not a huge fan of Spelunky or these types of games, but the combination of roguelike elements and gameplay that reminds me of Catherine - platforming on a slowly-encroaching timer - had me kinda hooked. Even while dying over and over and feeling my anger well, I still wanted to go back up because things like the way your lil archaeologist tumbles over corners and the wall jumps, all the sounds and music just kinda blend together super nice. It's definitely got some room for improvement - like some extra roguelike elements to make repeat runs a bit more varied, like new characters, but I'm sure this kinda stuff will come along in future as the game might see more support! The art style is also super cute, clean and the game runs really well, even on the original Steam Deck, but it does get warm on the latter with the game being processing-heavy with the lack of load times. That said, not a single frame drop or performance issue, just human error! Definitely recommend trying out the demo if you're still on the fence, but it's a super fun indie game that deserves the support!
A very enjoyable game that combines the difficulties of both Roguelikes and Platformers in a way that feels rewarding and satisfying with each new milestone reached. Both the one-more-run-junky and puzzle solver within me are satisfied. It's almost like a Roguelite in the sense that the information gained by simply experimenting with items and mechanics feels like a permanent powerup. I also enjoy how they teach you about mechanics via the quest at the start of each run with an objective that may be something you didnt even realize you could do in the first place. The art style is very fun/charming and the controls are smooth/responsive. Easy buy if you ask me.
Spelunky, is that you?? The game is super fun and catchy! I love how even after tens of hours the game still rewards me for finding new solutions (and still surprises me with new ways of killing me). Im quite competitive so I really appreciate the possibility to generate my own level and challenge my friends :-) The story could be better but that is definitely not what this game is about.
