I’ve put over 125 hours into Per Aspera, and it’s one of those rare games I keep coming back to. What really stands out is how unique it feels compared to other city-builders. Managing the transformation of Mars while balancing resources, expansion, and long-term planning keeps every playthrough engaging. There’s always something new to learn, optimize, or try differently, which gives it a ton of replayability. It’s also a fantastic “time killer” in the best way—easy to get into, but deep enough that you can lose hours without realizing it. If you enjoy niche strategy or simulation games, this one absolutely hits the mark. Overall, I’m very happy with my purchase and will continue to support the developers. Highly recommended for anyone looking for something a little different in the genre.
While I enjoyed the premise of the game, the voice acting, and graphics. It's still full of bugs. You can terraform too fast, skip important milestones causing quest errors. Some buildings just don't work (still). I've been waiting since 2019 for them to polish the game, fix the UI, add accessibility options.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Have to thumb this down sadly. A cool game certainly, with some original ideas in there, however its got some major flaws which I would argue mean its not worth a buy. I've done one entire play through on the second highest difficulty. I mostly enjoyed it however that is the most I will get out of the game. The story I thought was really cool, until the ending. Could've had some epic in game implications that were lazily not implemented. -Firstly, and most glaringly obvious. Combat?!?!?! Why does this game about terraforming Mars have combat? I like a good space fight as much as anyone else but the execution of combat was absolutely ♥♥♥♥, a total add on/afterthought that did not feel tacked onto the plot/game at all. Incredibly boring, incredibly simple. You can easily win the game by only researching 1 military tech, the rest r unnecessary (for context there is like 30). The enemy AI will always have a pitifully weak army that is easily destroyed. Cool idea, IF implemented wayyyyyyyyyyy better. Bit of a joke. -Game felt poorly designed. Hard to optimise your production lines at all, robot workers take resources wherever instead of where their needed. You cannot streamline/optimise properly, the no.1 best tactic to win fast is just expand constantly and rapidly, throw efficiency to the wind and just build ♥♥♥♥ until the planet is covered with your mines and factories. Feels lazy, and gets very repetitive. -The actual terraforming process is bugged and weird. Might have just been my play through, but the planet terroforming process constantly felt strange, I was pulling wayyy ahead meeting certian targets while lagging behind on others. You could say Im bad, and your probably right, the the terrible UI descriptions led me researching and investing in tehcs that did nothing or where the opposite of what I needed at the time. Story and voice acting were cool, though at time the story confused the hell out of me. This AI intellegnce (the player) is given enormous and total control over terraforming and ultimately controlling mars. Felt very odd with how little oversight the characters gave me, felt like Mars was an afterthought for them. For e.g. the mars colony was quite literally under attack, with humans dying, annndddd.... nothing. I repaired the damage and then a call came in months later that mentioned the attack as a bit of a side note. Like what??? Aliens/whatever/something just attacked humanity on Mars and I am not instantly contacted about wtf is going on? seems odd. this dev team had a cool vision I can see, and with a rating of 88% most players r clearly enjoying it. I certainly did at times, however felt like the game has way to many enormous flaws, oversights and plain poor design to recommend it.
fun game, chill and intense at time. Makes me wish we would stop trying to kill each other and satisfy the rich ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and get off this planet and become explorers.
Well that was an unexpected let down from a game with a ton of potential. Pros: - Some of the cleanest UI and graphics of any game I've played. - Initial exploration is fun. - Approachable mechanics that can be understood by the end of the first game. - Being able to change game speed is cool and unique. Cons: - Storyline was quite lackluster. The game finished and it felt like I was 75% of the way through the story and when I went back to play more, the game was bugged in a way that prevented me from interacting with anything- even after restart and reload. - Balancing and game pace are broken. On my first- and likely only- playthrough, I had each of the tech trees entirely researched complete before unlocking a third sector with a fully upgraded military populated in my singular district before the second joke of an attack came. Oh, and instead of attacking the first nest, you can just ignore it because it gets destroyed from floods. - Replayability is non-existent. Aside from discovering research facilities you couldn't the first run because they got flooded by completing the main mission, you start at the same place on Mars with all the same variables- aside from maybe resources if you chose to suffer. For a game that takes 12-20 hours, it's crazy there isn't more single player variation. - Combat system is also lacking. Sometimes you'll click on an enemy unit with a drone and your drones would go to the location instead of attacking. Even fully upgraded drones are not fast enough to quickly eradicate enemies before they destroy buildings. - Game progression is extremely linear. It sure seems like you don't have many impactful choices.
还不错,要是没有剧情就更好了。
The logistics system in a game is so frustrating that made me give up at phase 3 of terraforming. Over and over again, you see items being brought from across the planet even though there are items available right next the consumer. I think this happens mainly with storage facilities, which makes them useless to buffer between consumers and producers. No possibility to lock consumers to producers either, which mean very little room to optimize a supply chain. Then, the decision to have the worker area boundaries be between buildings instead of the buildings itself makes no sense to me, because the outcome is lots of useless worker trips across the boundaries.
The gameplay is simplistic; short production chains, trivial "combat", often repetitive building. Sounds and music are nothing special, they do their job. The story tries to be deep, but the twists just aren't that interesting and the torrent of messages gets annoying quickly. The art style is great, I liked the sketchy presentation of the Martian surface. The game offers just enough fun and challenge for the time it takes to complete it. It doesn't overstay its welcome and can be finished in a day or two. Recommended on a deep discount, if you're a fan of the theme and genre. Otherwise, your money is better spent on something more complex.
At first the game is amazing, even with its janky logistics system. But once you get to the midgame and beyond, you realise it's unfinished. The tech tree is barebones, there is no way to upgrade your workers, for instance. It gets infuriating when you try to create resource or production hubs using hyperloops, the only two things you can do is either add a ton of worker hubs, which doesn't do much good as the pathfinding and task allocation are really, REALLY bad, or you can try to spread your buildings across the whole planet- which also doesn't work, if your resources are concentrated. And don't even get me started on the finite resources. There is no way to stretch them, once you mine the last vein, that's it, game over. It makes little sense, since you relatively quickly get to the point of building space elevators and aerobraking comets above the planet, you can import ice and nitrates from the asteroid belt and Jupiters moons. It wouldn't be a stretch to let us harvest the other basic resources from asteroids or moons as an endgame mechanic. But the game never got to that point in development, it seems. And the combat system wast just a bad, bad idea. It's very barebones, simplistic, and mostly just annoying. It would've been far, far better to spend the dev time on actually making coherent resource loops and systems. For instance, endgame space mining industry, so the game doesn't have this annoying hard limit to playtime. Finally, it looks like the game is dead. I very much doubt it'll be getting any more updates in the future, the last one was a year ago. In short, an amazing idea, half-baked implementation. A huge dissapointement overall, moreso because it could've been a cult classic in the vein of Factorio. The potential is there, but it was squandered or ignored. Not worth the investment.
