This is a great game and an accurate digital representation of a physical board game. I don't have much to say other than that. in this genre of games you either get it right or you don't. It's hard to believe that publishers can screw up a board game, but it happens all the time. This publisher kept it simple, honored the physical game and that was all it takes.
This game is hard to win but there is so much appeal that I keep playing it. I read about the actual events in a book called Enemy At The Gates, by William Craig, and I have admired what the men did in this situation. I am not sure if the mechanics between the Signal units and the Fog of War card is correct, or if maybe the explanation is unclear. If all the Signal units have a token, it does open up an extra action, but I'm not sure how to clear a Fog of War card and draw another Soviet card. It just seems to skip your re-draw. Overall it is a lot of fun and good value for the dollar.

I love seeing adaptations of solitaire board games like this coming to Steam, and I really love seeing good adaptations like this. I'd love seeing Bookmark Games take a crack at other DVG games, or maybe the COIN series (once they've got Undaunted Normandy out of Early Access of course).
The Steam version is true to the hard copy version of the game but takes away the pain of the bookkeeping (have I moved three or four guys? Have I taken my last action for the turn yet?). I enjoy the sound effects and the theme music as well.
Not a fan. Very swingy, which in a way makes sense for the type of game it is, but it's quite punative specifically due to the low amount of actions one gets. I find it very hard to believe that only 3 people can fire their weapons at any one time. For balance, I think it would have made more sense if the player had more action, whilst retaining how swingy it is. That way there's more agency in the defence action this game is modelling, but no guarantee that their men are quality marksmen, or that the Germans are merely performing well. It's based on the actual boardgame published by DVG, and their games are brutal by design, but I felt that this one was excessively so. If you like that kind of punishment, then ignore my complaint and give it a go. For $13AUD, it's a solid purchase.
Historically inaccurate representation of the event BUT the tactical problems are realistic and very demanding: when to deploy specific weapons, where to place them, managing resources and replacements.... player must carefully consider every action. This game makes you think! Well worth the investment.
Even though you're in charge of dealing the cards, the suspense just builds!!! Getting a win is a real balancing act, really clever enjoyable solitaire game
I'm a huge board gamer and this is a really good reproduction of a board game. It's pretty difficult. The best i have managed is a draw after 5 games! Fun game.
This game is great. I had never played it before, took a bit to learn the structure, its complex and simple all at the same time.. fun short game filled with tough decision making and random events that either help you out or cripple your efforts ( ebb and flow ). Price tag to me is an easy ( value 100%) and the cpu does all the math and clean up for you. 8/10.
