You are an Exile, struggling to survive on the dark continent of Wraeclast, as you fight to earn power that will allow you to exact your revenge against those who wronged you. Path of Exile is an online Action RPG set in a dark fantasy world. The game is completely free and will never be pay-to-win.
Revenue comes from in-game items and microtransactions, which our price-based model doesn't estimate. The player count below is how many people own it, not what they spent.
Charts
Each storefront's own chart, in its own country — the closest public signal to sales where none is published. A country missing from a list is one we don't collect there, not one where the game doesn't chart.
No United States chart position — it charts only in the markets below.

Reviews
Welp, after a years-long break I can say that this game is fundamentally broken with power creep and content bloat. The balancing team must have (understandably) given up leagues ago. Most of the time you have no way of knowing what is actually dangerous on your screen at any time - a random magic mob can one-shot you from off-screen with an autoattack while bosses barely dent your health. And if you have a visually busy build, just hope that you have enough damage to ignore game mechanics. In the end, you either break the game or see how truly broken it is.

**Recommended — 576+ hours** Path of Exile is a wonderful game about killing monsters, collecting loot, and slowly realizing you've accidentally enrolled in an unpaid university course. I started playing thinking, "Oh cool, Diablo but free." 576 hours later I'm staring at six different resistance numbers, moving gems around like a crackhead doing electrical work, and getting genuinely excited because a chest has the correct combination of coloured holes in it. 10/10. I mostly play Necromancer, because why fight my own battles when I can bring an entire unemployment line of skeletons, spectres, golems and other assorted dead people with me? Sometimes my army deletes half the map. Sometimes a boss looks vaguely in my direction and I immediately become a historical event. That's Path of Exile. The amount of content in this game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ absurd. Every time I think I understand it, another mechanic crawls out from underneath a rock carrying seventeen currencies and a crafting system that apparently requires a minor in economics. And somehow I love it. The developers and support staff deserve genuine credit too. My experiences with them have been great. I've had reward/drop issues sorted out by actual humans, and I've always gotten the impression that the people behind this ridiculous monster genuinely give a ♥♥♥♥ about it and its community. Is it beginner friendly? Absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ not. The passive tree looks like someone dropped a plate of spaghetti onto a motherboard and called it character progression. But once it gets its claws into you, there really isn't anything else quite like it. It's complicated. It's occasionally infuriating. It will happily murder you because you forgot that 41% chaos resistance is apparently the defensive equivalent of wearing a promising hat. Then you'll get one beautiful drop and forgive everything. Free game, by the way. I've paid considerably more money for games I've played considerably less. See you in maps. I apparently live here now.
