Enjoyable story and gameplay for cheap you just need a brain to understand it

Пришла за получасовым хоррором. Получила тревожность, экзистенциальный кризис и желание похаять наш мир со всем его содержимым. В игре много аллюзий, но центральная тема - насилие над детьми и то, как отсутствие поддержки медленно и незаметно ломает жертву. Это не про скримеры, а про реальность. Рекомендую. Но будьте готовы к горькому осадку.

It’s a 45min to one hour story about violence aimed at a child who absolutely does not deserve it. What do you expect me to tell you? It’s plain and it’s twisted at the same time. It’s grim. It follows a girl called Ari on her journey from home to school over the span of three days (or not). Watching trailer should give you the proper idea where this entire thing is heading. Pessimism ensues. The graphics are pretty. They are very basic but perfectly composed and profoundly blue. And when they turn red it’s already too late. The NPCs are mostly black outlines and shadows, with just a few exceptions, only a few lines of dialogue and nothing besides bad intentions. The animation of the protagonist is also rudimentary with only a few frames for walking. That’s enough, since it is all Ari does. She can walk left and right, look up and down and interact with the points of interest in the environment, but these interactions only consist of viewing more dialogues and suffering horrible consequences. And out of this already limited pool of actions, Ari mostly walks right since the game does not allow returning to a previous screen outside of one or two predetermined scenarios, which usually also result in more pain coming her way. Interaction windows can be extremely vague at times. Some actions only trigger within a few pixel wide area, which made me initially miss certain events I’ve intuitively expected but stood a millimeter too far to the right for them to activate. Or to the left since I’ve searched rather competently. It likes to freeze and crash at times. The sounds and music both match the mood and intensify the eeriness of the experience. Because yes, Ari’s journey gets increasingly uncanny and creepy as the days go by (or not). In my opinion, what Parasite Flower does exceptionally well is depicting the reality decay as seen from the perspective of a child facing the inconceivable amount of hurt and/or the extreme hopelessness of conditions in which certain people are born. Therefore, especially to a sensitive and empathetic audience, Parasite Flower may (will) feel soul-crushingly dark. That’s the point of this show. Then again, what did you expect me to tell you here? It’s a 45min to one hour story about violence aimed at a child who absolutely does not deserve it.

Played this game around a year ago. Really short but genuinely made me feel sick.

i think what makes this story good is how even being so short it tells you something so gut wrenching in such a clear way, every detail is important even if there's so little... loved the art, it really does translate well the feeling of what its happening. (!) it bugs and freezes a lot but if u save each time you are back at home and in the train you'll be ok.
