Quite nice interactive musical visualizer! Controls are simple enough and the effects on both the visuals and the music make for some constant new discoveries. Also, I don't remember making so many screenshots per minute than within this game. The game is divided in two parts, one main set of tunes, and a set of three collaborations with other artists. The main set absolutely shines where there is a sense of progression, that is when the the visuals and the music evolve both by themselves through time and according to players' controls. This does mean that the first and last level (the only ones with such a feature) are absolutely amazing. The rest never feels out of place but I have seen myself at times wanting to rush a bit through a level to get to another one. When it comes to the collaborations, while none implements the kind of progression mentioned earlier, each one is vastly different than any other level, which largely compensates and make for a superb conclusion. Quite an original game. Absolutely worth trying (or at least seeing) once! It's not very long anyway. 9/10

It's a pretty trippy and fun little game.
You know, I love electronic music, I love the demo scene, I loved Proteus, but I just do not love Panoramical. It's nothing like Proteus. There is no narrative. It's just a bunch of procedurally generated scenes with 9 plink-plonk ambient tracks in the background that you can mix together. As usual with these sorts of groovebox/kaosspad music generators, the most pleasing (i.e. least cacophonic) sounds come when you have the most minimal set of instruments, but because in this game that's also tied to the visuals, you're stuck in the same spot if you want to listen to anything that doesn't suck. I'm sure if you sat around for ages you could find a handful of great mixes and cool visuals, but what's the point when you can download thousands of fantastic demos for free, when you can whack together your own tunes using modern clip-based audio software, or when you can play similar "art games" that at least have some kind of narrative structure? I've owned this game for years but still only managed to get about 25 minutes of gameplay out of it, because every time I boot it up I get bored or want to tear my ears out 20 seconds later. I kept coming back to give it a chance, but it's 2023 and I give up. It's just not that interesting. Even if you are a fan of this sort of thing, there are better ways to spend your money and your time.
