I'm reaching my limits with this game... Pros: -Many sim-related mechanics for variety of players, farming and fishing can be relaxing. - Building your house is fun and mostly without limit, minus second floors being editable and hallways not being able to connect to side walls of other hallways. -Villagers are unique, interesting, interactable, and even personable in some cases. Romancing and friending them is also a plus for players interested. -Team or Party bonuses are a plus, and you don't have to be friends or in a party for other players to benefit when you work together. -Trading encouraged as well as player interaction encouraged. The more the merrier. Cons: -Cooking mechanics have fluctuating bugs that are really only fixed by entering and exiting the housing menu, costing cooking time -Grinding for rare bugs, hunting creatures, and fish can be time consuming and often unrewarding when you have to have 2-3 boosters of some kind just to catch frantic flipping fish. -Trading with other players is helpful when other players do not have the same items you do, there should be an additional bartering system where you can exchange duplicate artifacts instead of having to repeatedly ask people to help or having to grind multiple servers for items due to limited spawn points per server. -Walls are inconsistent in whether they are a climbable surface or not, especially in areas like Bahari, Temple of the Gales, and Royal Highlands with little or no visible defining differences between them. You'll be climbing with near full stamina in some areas and randomly drop grip or meet an invisible wall that makes little sense to exist. -The mount system is rough. Maybe if it weren't limiting your forward and backward to speed up and slow down and allowed full directional control the way they do the player it would not be such an issue to me, but it's a minor complaint in this sea of whining. -Introducing new cosmetics and pretty character animations that lag out other players in server because there's little optimization to smoothing out gameplay. Had to externally limit frames just to stop my game freezing every 5 footsteps. I've put so many hours into this game and have had many great times in it but I'm finding it more and more frustrating to complete quests with recent updates because bug fixes are seemingly a very little priority in what the devs want to focus on. The nerve to have $60 dlc but not better optimize the game for players with pcs that aren't windows 11, that doesn't also require those players to have external limiters just so the game doesn't burn up PCs, is a huge middle finger to those that can only play the free version. We deserve a good player experience whether we buy premium content or not.
Wow congrats on most broken update! I used to love this game. But today i reinstalled for the first time in like a year, immediately fell through the floor when using the teleport feature, and the unstuck button dropped me even lower in the map and now all i can do is log on to fall infinitely until the teleport timer cools down. I played less than 2 minutes and i already uninstalled. The only "solution" is to wait half an hour for the teleport cooldown. Not putting a respawn net under your map KNOWING people fall through the floor alot is just bad game dev behavior. Deeply disappointed. Likely will not return because they dont fix bugs, they just add content.
Not worth playing. I had forgotten why i stopped playing this game. And got reminded quite quickly once i gave it a second try. The resourses in this game is shared among all players, which in of it selfe isn't a problem. The problem is that there are soo dang many people bot farming in it, that any mid-lat and end game resourses get vacumed up near instantly by said bots. And you can literarly see who is botting by how janky and stiff their movements are. (strightline, stop. 180 degree turn, strightline stop, 145 degree turn, strightline ect.). This is a problem the game have had for years, and it dosn't supprice me that it now have so few players left. I tought that the devs would have had taken the problem serious, but it apears their focus was on cosmetics instead of problem solving. Meybe wil give the game a last chanse in the future if the devs fix the botting or make it so that resorses arn't shared among players so the botters wont be a problem. If it wasn't for the bot farmers, i'd recomend the game, as it is fun. But the bot farmers ruin it by making vital crafting resourses near impossible to get.
Love this game! Not too many hrs yet but i will say: having to pay for storage is insane and it absolutely needs fixed. Whether that is we can both pay or grind for premium storage. I understand paying for outfits, pets, etc; but $100??? for storage?? when most if not the whole game is a grind for materials. I really would like to see S6 change the storage out of all things, We should be able to purchase more storage via in game. or they should update how many storage bins can be on your plot. Or even to be able to put things on the ground so we dont have to sell things we dont want to just for space.. Outside of my complaints, i really do enjoy this game. I only would not recommend the game due to the paywall for storage/limited outfits. So major thumbs down for the new update.... Thanks for reading, hoping to see some sort of a response from S6 as me and many others commenting would love to see this improvement. <3 :)
I’m only 82 hours into Palia, but it has already become one of those games where I log in thinking, “I’ll just play for an hour…” and suddenly several hours have disappeared. 😂 I absolutely love collecting, looting, gathering and being rewarded for exploring and doing things. Farming games have always been my thing, and Palia gives me a little bit of everything I enjoy: farming, crafting, gathering resources, fishing, decorating, exploring, completing quests… there is always something to do. But what really surprised me is how much I enjoy the online aspect. I’ve already met some genuinely lovely people, and teamwork actually feels important here. Instead of competing for everything, there are so many moments where working together benefits everyone – and I love that. It’s cozy without feeling empty, relaxing without becoming boring, and there’s always another little goal waiting for me. Palia is simply a game I genuinely enjoy coming back to. I log in, start doing “one quick thing”… and somehow I’m still there hours later. 82 hours so far – and definitely many more to come. 💚
I genuinely love Palia. I’ve put a lot of time into this game, and I keep coming back because there is always something I enjoy doing. The worlds are cool, the gameplay is relaxing and fun, and the developers have continued adding events, expansions, characters, quests, furniture, cosmetics, and other content that gives you reasons to keep playing. I especially love how distinct the characters feel. They have their own personalities, stories, relationships, and little quirks, and I’ve enjoyed seeing the cast grow since the game released. I also play almost entirely solo, and Palia is very playable that way. There are tons of resources online if you get stuck on a quest, need to figure out where something spawns, want to know what time a certain fish or bug appears, or just need help understanding one of the game’s systems. I’ve been able to accomplish the vast majority of what I want without needing to constantly group up with other players. My biggest warning to new players has very little to do with the actual game: the community can be incredibly toxic. There are a LOT of community-created “rules” and expectations that aren’t actually rules of the game, and some players will get genuinely angry if you don’t follow them. If you’re new or primarily play solo, you may not even know these expectations exist until someone decides you’ve broken one. Things that are supposed to be cooperative or casual can become stressful because some people expect everyone else to play according to whatever etiquette they personally believe is correct. The community can also become extremely hostile whenever there is a controversial update or decision from the developers. The recent backlash surrounding paid storage is a good example. It’s an optional feature for players who want to purchase it, and yet some of the reactions I’ve seen have been unbelievably nasty. It’s completely reasonable to criticize monetization or disagree with decisions made by the developers, but the hostility toward anyone who doesn’t share those criticisms can get exhausting. If you say that something doesn’t bother you, or that you actually like a change other people hate, people can get mean very quickly. Thankfully, you do NOT need to be heavily involved with the community to enjoy Palia. I mostly keep to myself, use online guides when I need them, help other players when I can, and enjoy the game at my own pace. Played that way, Palia is my favorite cozy game. So yes, I absolutely recommend Palia. There is a huge amount to love here, especially for a free-to-play game, and it continues to grow. Just remember that the loudest members of the community don't represent everyone playing it. There are plenty of kind people in game who just want everyone to have a good time. Play how you want, be kind to other players, and don’t let someone else’s made-up rules dictate how you enjoy the game. <3
Cozy game, cool content, low cortisol gaming. 6/10. Feels like Animal Crossing meets Stardew Valley. I've played since beta. It looks like I don't have a lot of hours because I was using the game's client before I swapped over to Steam. I really, really, REALLY, want to give this game a 10/10, but having put in more hours than my daily job, I can only give it 6/10. There's a lot to improve on, and I believed in their vision, but I have to stop being delulu and be honest about how disappointing their delivery has been. For starters, I'll admit that I'm wanting too much out of Palia. I like everything Palia already has, but I keep wanting it to have something like Genshin's many regions. I just see how much it could be, but isn't... yet. Ever since I started playing 3 years ago, I wanted them to add a mount--took them 2 years but then finally did even though back then they said they had no plans to back then. I wanted them to add a dungeon/mines like Stardew Valley since all the mobs in game are passive and run away from you. But we physically don't have an HP bar and I guess the devs didn't want to add one to keep in theme with "cozy sim low-cortisol gaming", I wanted them to add more regions with more npcs, but I'm still stuck with the same village and only 5 new npcs. Instead of feeling like I can venture out and bring cool stuff back to my house, I'm just stuck in a small and slowly expanding bubble of rinse and repeat. With how successful and profitable this game is, we should be getting fuller updates. Maybe it'll be what I want it to be after another 2-3 decades. That's how slow it feels for a game that's making more money than an indie game. You're telling me after 3 years, we only have 3 regions and 5 new npcs? Why is it after 3 years we're still capped at 1k focus and no new way to raise it higher? Why is there no overeating option like Raft where I can't eat anymore, but the excess food gets temporarily added to my bar so it doesn't go to waste? Why is it I'm just sitting on maxed renown that I can't spend on? The game hides behind it's beta shield as many others have said and agree with. I haven't encountered enough bugs to be peeved about it. The game has an unstuck button which usually fixes things most of the times. And if it doesn't, loading to a new area (reloading screen) or changing to a tool in hand usually fixes it. I think Switch players probably have to deal with the annoying bugs, whereas mine are easily fixable so they don't annoy me--or I've just grown accustomed to the typical bugs in all games.
