Fun chill game that offers a lot of depth and can become very micro managy, but still great fun
This is basically "Science Homework: The Game" in the best way!
Oxygen Not Included is one of those games that looks fairly simple at first, then suddenly you realise you’ve spent three hours redesigning a plumbing system because someone peed in the clean water supply. The amount of depth here is ridiculous. You start out worrying about food and oxygen, but before long you’re dealing with heat management, gas pressure, power grids, automation, germs, liquid loops and increasingly elaborate systems designed to stop your colony from killing itself. What I really like is that failure rarely feels completely random. Normally something goes wrong because of a decision you made 20 cycles ago that has finally come back to haunt you. There’s definitely a learning curve, and the game isn't particularly forgiving when you're starting out. You’ll probably restart multiple colonies as you realise everything you did in the previous one was horribly inefficient. But learning how everything interacts is a huge part of the fun. It’s basically an engineering problem disguised as a cute colony simulator, and if you enjoy building systems, optimising things and solving problems, it’s dangerously addictive.
