oVRshot is a VR action game built around something I do not see all that often, using a bow as my main weapon in a fast arena shooter. I am thrown into matches with a bow, different abilities and a jetpack style movement system, then I have to move around the arena and land shots while trying to stay alive. The game supports 3 versus 3 battles, free for all, and fighting against AI, so there is more to it than just one basic mode. I like the idea because shooting a bow in VR feels much more physical than simply aiming a normal gun. The bow physics are easily the best part for me. I actually have to draw the bow, aim properly and release the arrow instead of relying on normal shooter controls. When I land a good shot while moving around the arena, it feels much more satisfying than a normal hit from a traditional FPS. The movement also gives me plenty to think about because I can use three different locomotion options, along with grapples and double jumps. That makes the arenas much more vertical and active than they would be if I was simply walking around with a bow. I also like the abilities because they give the combat more variety. The game is not just about who can aim their bow better. I can choose special abilities and use them alongside my arrows, which means I have to think about when to attack and when to use an ability. There are also different game modes, including team battles, free for all and solo or cooperative matches against AI. I appreciate having the AI option because it gives me something to do when I do not want to rely entirely on online matches. The biggest problem for me is that the game is heavily dependent on its multiplayer side. The core combat is fun, but the experience is naturally much more limited when I am not getting proper matches. The game does have bots and single player options, but the real appeal is clearly the competitive arena combat. That makes the long term value harder for me to judge because a game like this needs a healthy multiplayer environment to show its best side. The fact that the studio eventually closed and the game was made free to play also makes it feel more like a snapshot of a VR multiplayer game from its time rather than something that is still receiving major development. The presentation is decent without being the main reason I would play it. The robot characters and futuristic arenas fit the setting, and the VR effects make the movement and archery feel more immersive. I do not think the visuals are especially impressive now, but they do enough to support the gameplay. There are also cosmetics and Steam achievements, which give me a few extra things to work towards. I like the cosmetic system more as a small extra than something that carries the game, since the actual bow combat is what needs to keep me interested. I also appreciate that oVRshot is completely free to play now. That makes it much easier for me to overlook some of the limitations because I am not being asked to pay for a short VR experience. The combination of bow physics, fast movement, abilities and AI gives me enough to experiment with, even if I am not always able to get the full multiplayer experience. The three locomotion systems are especially useful because VR movement can be very personal, and having options makes the game more comfortable to approach. Overall, oVRshot is a fun idea that gets the most important part right. Using a physical bow in VR while flying around an arena, grappling across the map and firing special abilities can be genuinely satisfying. The limited long term depth and dependence on multiplayer stop me from putting it into the highest rating range, and the older presentation shows its age a little. Still, the bow mechanics are enjoyable, the movement gives the matches plenty of energy and the fact that it is free makes it easy for me to recommend as a quick VR game to try. It is not a massive experience, but there is enough here for me to have a good time with it. Rating: 7.7/10

This game is a blast for a group of six people. Archery is perfect for VR, and implemented well in Stryker with unique class abilities. There are a handful of game modes that are all fun.
