Named Game of the Year 2019 by Giant Bomb, Polygon, Eurogamer, and The Guardian, Outer Wilds is a critically-acclaimed and award-winning open world mystery about a solar system trapped in an endless time loop.
Modeled estimate, not a reported figure. How we estimate →
Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Charts
Each storefront's own chart, in its own country — the closest public signal to sales where none is published. A country missing from a list is one we don't collect there, not one where the game doesn't chart.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 48/day in the week to Aug 22 → 45.71/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,420 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Add-ons
Each DLC is estimated with the same model as a game, then summed — a modeled figure, not reported DLC sales.
Sums Steam only; PlayStation, Xbox, Epic publish no volume signal, so the true total is higher by an unknown amount.

I wish I could forget everything I know about this game, just so I could experience it again for the first time
I am at a loss for words at the beauty of this experience. A game hasn't been able to move me like this and probably hardly ever will again in a long time.
This game is so jarring to me that it’s not worth writing a proper review. Instead, I shall just copy nearly unedited Discord conversation with my friend instead: [19:25]Friend: wwwww is outer wilds really that bad [19:32]Kath: It’s the worst 🤣 [19:32]Friend: wwww really?? [19:32]Friend: i heard online so many praises [19:45]Kath: Yeah, me too, but it’s just filled with so many annoyances that overshadow anything remotely interesting (not that there are any interesting things in this game, so far it’s mostly just pretentious 🐮💩 – which I think is probably exactly the source of the online praises, it’s possibly appealing to the neckbeard Rick-and-Morty-fans Redditor types that praise it because it made them feel super smort 🤓) Non-spoilery (in case you decide you don’t hate yourself quite enough and buy this piece of poop in a drunken stupor and then against your better judgement try to get your money’s worth and try to finish the game) abbreviated list of grievances: - zero hand-holding - zero indication of progress - zero direction on what you’re supposed to be doing, if you’re doing a right thing or chasing a wild goose - game focused on EXPLORING (which in my mind implies “taking your time and enjoying scenery”) implementing not one, not two but THREE separate systems that add time-pressure, forcing you to rush is a game design choice worth the Most Retarded Decision Ever Made award - but then on the other hand, sometimes you HAVE to wait for things to happen, because asking players to wait motionlessly for 5-10 minutes (while their oxygen tank is slowly emptying) is just great game design - to be fair, waiting motionlessly at least saves you from interacting with the terrible movement system (see below), so I guess that’s an unintended bonus point? - zero checkpoints - zero checkpoints + being forced to rush = make mistake → get punished for them by going back to the beginning, losing 10-15 minutes of progress at a time, wonder👏fricking👏ful - and mistakes you’ll make because the movement is retarded - but ship movement is somehow even more retarded - including autopilot which somehow finds new unique ways of killing you every time - and when you just about think you discovered the peak of Regard Mountain, you get thrown into zero-G movement system and you realize, “nope, THIS is peak regard, I hate EVERYTHING about this, why am I even wasting time with this stinky pile of poo?” - funnily enough game says it’s best played on gamepad, which just raises two questions – how much more terrible could it possibly be on keyboard & mouse (would the amount of suckage be enough to just spontaneously create a black hole? Possibly!), and is this amount of lying sufficient for suing the company into oblivion? ’cause this game is not best played on ANYTHING, the most peak gameplay loop you can possibly get out of Outer Wilds is to download the game → instantly trash it → download again and repeat on loop, and it’s million times better loop than anything the game offers [19:46]Friend: wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww [19:46]Friend: phewwwww And I bet that the only response one would get to the above would be a pretentious “No no no, you don’t understand! Those aren’t flaws! That’s the point of the game!” to which I yell straight into your ear canals so that you hopefully get it into your skull: “I UNDERSTAND THE POINT. I HATE THE POINT.”
This game encapsulates all my fears and I did not want to pick it up again, but I couldn't get the title track out of my head. I listened to it for months before finally powering through and facing this game head on. This is the most well made game I've ever played. Facing your fears gives it so much more impact. For a game everyone wishes they could play all over again, it's an experience you will never forget.
best game ever. But please never look anything up, you'll figure it out :)
