Personally it wasnt a go to game for me but I always love trying new things and I have watched rouglite games and it was actually more fun that i was expecting. I like how every map has a different task of what to do. I would have probably liked to play the actual characters with said story but i didnt know who that was until the story was playing but other than that it was quick to find my fave characters. Certain ones can tackle certain maps better than others.
This really was an exciting and engaging hybrid horror game that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. The comic book intros and pixel monster graphics are stunning, and the game's storyline is well-crafted, making for an immersive and satisfying gameplay experience. Yes, it has a few bugs, but nothing on the Jedi Survivor level, but more so some items with the FPS for certain sections of over-run maps, and grammar typos, but no game crashes or hangs. I kinda wish this was on SteamDeck as well, but it is unfair to expect something that was not listed as in the developer’s intent. I managed to get this to run on my Ayaneo 2, without any issues, so I am pretty sure with all the new handhelds coming out there won’t be any trouble playing this on a Deck competitor. Co-Op for this style of game is also very well done, and really feels like an odd beat-em up game but in shooter format, like old school Contra or NARCS. One of the things I loved most about this game is the sense of exploration it provides. As you venture through the different levels, looking for more quests in different scenarios, you encounter unique sections of environments and enemies that keep the game fresh and exciting with each new run. The puzzles are also challenging but not overly frustrating, which is a great balance. I think people are NOT going to be used to this kind of game, first because it is NOT VampSurvior and mostly because you must figure out a lot of what each mission involves, but I enjoyed something of being lost in for the sake of and then figuring it out, it’s not truly frustrating but really just simple trial and error game, a throwback to the 16bit era of arcades. The combat system is also top-notch. The starting variety of weapons and abilities available to the player allows for different playstyles, and the enemy AI keeps you on your toes. Each mini and larger boss encounter is a thrilling battle that requires strategy and skill to overcome. You can gain a ton of cash in the alternate dimension story mission, so for any people saying that the unlocking progression is broken really didn’t give time to let the game cook. Additionally, the game's soundtrack is fantastic, it was updated from the launch version and I feel the new updated tracks really put the whole package together, setting the mood for each level perfectly. It's evident that a lot of care and attention to detail went into creating this game, and it shows in every aspect of the game. Overall, I genuinely recommend Outer Terror to anyone looking for a fun, new and engaging gaming experience. Whether you're a fan of action games or just looking for a new adventure, Outer Terror has something to offer a lot of gamers. I was not disappointed; in fact I want more from the Devs and hopefully this review can push them to create more in this universe. LOVED: Art, Music, Game loops, quests NEEDS: More bug fixes, more missions (please!), more characters, more heads-up for objectives, maybe in the Pause menu or some other area in settings

lots of Tarantino grindhouse hype, no feet. menu controls are pretty annoying, can randomly use the mouse in places and not others. most is locked to E, enter, and backspace. "precision" aim mode isn't that precise either, it tries to float itself back to straight left, right, up, down and the ret is locked into a orbit around the character. optimization is pretty bad as well. Can run FFXIV on max settings and too many mobs in Outer Terror will lag and cause stutter. Interacting w/ quest npcs will get you killed as mobs do not pause attacks. Level up selections/weapons/items are pretty vanilla and do not power you up that much. The gold grind for upgrades is hella grindy. Game art, story, characters, and the voice acting are pretty pulpy though, love those aspects.
After loving other Horde Shooter games, wad really happy that I received a key for Outer Terror. Initially the gameplay in itself is fairly simple (as is the theme with most of these style games) you move around, your weapons kill enemies you level up get more weapons and rinse and repeat until you inevitably get overwhelmed and killed. But the 10 characters all start with a different weapons which means more variety and have to adapt your playstyle depending who you start with. Having the choice of multiple levels at the beginning is one I welcome and enjoyed the freedom of playing them all without the need for replaying the same level to unlock the others. Overall the graphic style and the gameplay is what made this fun for me. Would love to see more weapon options though.
Got to say the game surprised and delivered. I like the POV and the pacing of the game pushes you to react and allows you to choose to play with the story elements or just go ham on a shooting spree. Really easy play and go concept, with depth in terms of the replay-ability as you try to earn enough for the upgrades, which can be steep, but feel rewarding once you get a grove going.
Good game but unfortunately the progression is too slow. It takes many hours grinding to level up even a small amount.
I was very happy about the game, the first hour was also a lot of fun, but I noticed little things in the controls or key assignments that bothered me a little. I've already played several levels so I'm not really smart from it, but it might take time. However, what bothered me the most is that after the first update all the coins I earned were simply lost and the progress was simply set to zero period Edit: I've reconsidered my last review and now actually find the game to be quite entertaining. I also thought it was really cool that the developer responded directly to my reviews
Love the art. Love the presentation. Love the voice-acting, which was carefully recorded on the finest copper wire found at an abandoned construction site. Some of the in-game graphics are crusty, a bit too crusty, but the gameplay itself is not affected, and it's still satisfying to fight hordes in all the cool settings.
When age fell upon the world, and wonder went out of the minds of men; when grey cities reared to smoky skies tall towers grim and ugly; in whose shadow none might dream of the sun or of spring's flowering meads; when learning stripped earth of her mantle of beauty, and poets sang no more save of twisted phantoms seen with blared and inward-looking eyes; when these things had come to pass, and childish hopes had gone away forever, there was a man who traveled out of life on a quest into the spaces whither the world's dreams had fled.
