This looks promising until you start it up and you realise most of the features are completely missing. This means that both the screenshots and the videos (trailers) are completely misleading. I initially thought it was my fault as I failed to find out how to make the car appear (there is an achievement for that) or change the settings and travel to several different planets (or parallel universes). An update that was released 2 weeks ago, however, confirms the missing features (including a story mode) will only arrive in 2025. What was the point of releasing this product in its current state back in September, then? You play as a scientist who is meant to travel to other locations. We start out in a garage with a teleportation device in the corner. Interacting with its panel takes us to another location (universe?) but we immediately die in case we haven't picked up the HEV suit. I'm calling it HEV as the sound effect for the interactions is identical to Half Life 2. But what do we find there? Corridors and rooms. No enemies and only cans (of food?) to pick up. I headed back and decided to sit down in front of the computer in the garage. Now, the only way to stand up and leave the desk is to press Q. If you do not check this in the "Settings" menu then you'll have a problem as hitting ESC will not make the main menu appear over the computer screen. This is currently a bug. The computer allows us to use our browser (I see no point here), read e-mails (only empty textboxes appear) and to buy supplies such as food and water. Some sort of disk encryption option allows us to get more money if we need. Can we go outside? Yes, we can leave the garage and walk huge distances. By looking up at the phenomenon in the sky we can easily orientate ourselves and travel to the next warehouse with a teleportation device that does not work. There is a day-night cycle but even when it is in the morning the lower-left screen shows PM times. Heading out starts the depletion of our resources - we can see we are getting hungry and thirsty. I had no idea how to eat nor drink so after some exploration I got the "you dead" message. To reiterate the 1st paragraph: this will probably be interesting once it gets a huge update and a tutorial and some bug fixes. Add a little optimisation to that. Until then, your best bet is to stay away.

""Otherworldly: Beginning of the Rift" Pre-Alpha" is an overly ambitious attempt to make a first person puzzle adventure game, but it seems to be deep in development hell, having not really been updated since the game launched a couple of months ago. The game is absolutely an unpolished, clunky mess, and the question about whether the developers created all the game assets is prominent... this looks a lot like an asset flip to me. The game graphics look better than you might expect, but that's just because it looks like some or all of them are "borrowed" from asset stores or wherever. Gamers can tell... and it comes across as insincere. There's also the old adage that those who lack the budget and talent to make their own game assets usually lack the budget and talent to do the rest of the job of game development properly, too. It's free for now, but the developer intends to charge for this if it ever leaves Early Access... but considering the poor public reception, it's likely this will not be one of the 25% of games that ever gets finished and leaves Early Access. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 3 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.
the idea was good but it was so buggy for me. after i learn how to play objects were glitched for me and i couldnt pick them up. sometimes i couldnt exit from computer and when ever i change the language from German to English, it would automatically back to German again. overall if you fix bugs i will come again and test and maybe make a video about it
It seems like an awesome Idea but it is very much Unfinished, Waiting on An Update that can fix the bugs that the game is suffering from, Objects glitching, cant leave the PC, language bugs out stays in german. Issues with changing of sensitivity, outside of bugs that basically force you to alt+F4 just to get back to playing its a pretty cool game
its need tutorial or guide, and also need developer to play it and upload to youtube
"Otherworldly: Beginning of the Rift" by Klimav Vladislav and Klimava Katsiaryna (Belarussian)
Otherworldly seems to be a now abandoned project from two Belarussians. It’s hard to fathom what they were actually going for here. You play as the protagonist Mike, hired by a friend called Em, who is working for what appears to be an unknown SCP organization run by someone called John. Trying to close a growing rift in our universe by bringing a 20-year abandoned lab back online, requiring someone that won’t ask too many questions. This is what leads Em into recruiting us, suggesting a meet up, at an out of place outhouse in the middle of the woods. Once we time travel and awaken lab 15, the Ai governing the place makes itself known and gives us a tutorial on how the lab works. Thanks to a specialized transportation device and suit, from here we can travel to alternate dimensions. Ten of which have been labelled on a whiteboard. Our job seems to entail to visit each alternate dimension listed and identify it, by gathering an artifact and recording the dimensions readouts using 4 supplied devices and then entering that information into the main computer which will then unlock the next dimension etc. It appears that there are only 2 dimensions that can be visited, the first one appears to be a hospital and the second one a school. When we visit a dimension, we are encouraged to wander around it with our 4 tools and gather readings. If our Geiger shows a value more than 0.2 then it would suggest that there is an anomaly nearby. If our Emf has more than one light it also would suggest either an anomaly or some type of danger nearby. If our Air monitor displays a readout of more than 35.0 then it would show that the air in that dimension is toxic to us and finally if our thermometer ever shows negative values or spikes it also would suggest nearby anomalies. Before this, the developers made a game called ‘Anomaly Hunters’ and they seem to be trying to incorporate this anomaly hunting mechanic with an FPS style game. There are 3 things wrong with this 1) The areas are too dark to even read your devices half the time when visiting the various dimensions. 2) The zombies respawn when killed, never allowing you even time to whip out your devices. 3) This whole concept is completely useless as you can simply write out on a piece of paper all 10 laser combinations displayed on the whiteboard in lab 15 and then enter those inputs into the laser until you come across the right answer. A laser will then activate cracking open the floating meteorite, allowing you gather the artifact of that particular dimension. (Special Note: Each time you restart the game all dimensions will randomize, meaning while they look the same as last time, they have actually changed name and so the laser computations to crack open the meteorite will change each time). Here's the biggest problem with the game though, everything at lab 15 is buggy as hell. There is no point to collecting the artefacts as they don’t register when you try to return them to be shipped. Sleeping on the bed will have detrimental effects to your health. While you can use the main computer to sell data disks that you have collected at each dimension and you can also buy goods such as ammo, health, food and water which you will need to collect at a nearby train station, all of those goods don’t actually replenish your stock at the lab. You can get stuck inside the main computer if your too close to it when you click on it. To leave the computer you will have to press Q which the game does not tell you. Also, only one achievement unlocks, the rest are ALL bugged. There are two things I really like about this game. Firstly, their accompanying intro musical montage is awesome, not only does it serve as a premonition to places and events yet to take place, it teases the player with the concept of a time loop paradox. For instance, you get to see a children’s bedroom wall at your house covered in blood which hasn’t taken place yet. Or even earlier when you go to a mining town while wearing your specialized suit even though you haven’t been hired yet, or when you get to witness yourself enter the outhouse and time travel from the point of view from the same suit. Secondly, as you near the end of this liminal space catered venture and experience everything you think is on offer, your then presented with a door which opens up to a massive world outside, that has been hidden all this time and is filled with several points of interest yet to be fleshed out, such as another secret lab with an alien in it, a watcher tower, a military base, a train station where you can pick up your ordered goods, a caravan and picnic spot overlooking the lake and the outskirts of lab 15 and the many notes scattered around written by someone who witnessed a rift something he shouldn’t have. As stated, there are some serious game breaking bugs, this is a list that I personally came across and how to get past them. Stuck in your house: You can get eternally stuck because of a door bug, the best way past this is to make your way to the ground floor while Em is on the phone, then when she hangs up, quickly click on the outside door. Stuck in the Lab 15 computer: Always save before clicking on this thing and do it from a distance. Remember that you need to press Q to leave the computer. Stuck on the top floor in the guard towers: This happens if you click on the guard railing while up there. To solve this simply jump over the railing. There is no fall damage to this game. In Final: Here’s a list of things that I did not like about the game… 1. The 2 zombie assets are cheap and look awful. 2. The 4 anomaly hunting tools are useless and impractical due to constant respawning enemies. 3. The comic relief reawakened Ai after being dormant for 20 years was awful to listen to and felt out of place. It should have been what a realistic and serious AI should have sounded like. 4. The rift animation looks like a child had drawn it on a Sketch-a-pad. 5. The corridor with floating furniture, had portal like wallpaper, instead of looking like real portals. 6. Ammo, Med kits, Food and Water while can be bought and collected at the train station, they don’t seem to replenish your storage base. 7. All achievements are bugged except one. 8. Weekly side quests don’t work. 9. Sleeping is far too taxing on food and water stats. 10. Only two out of the ten dimensions seem to be visitable. 11. Exploding Barrels are nerfed. With all that stated, I actually hope these developers can pull themselves out of their creative slump and finetune this adventure. It needs more love and attention, than it has been getting. Where else can I Teabag an alien with a face hugger on it? Is there a third level yet to be discovered because it is well hidden? https://youtu.be/jjrd-5j_zQ4?si=abnrs7soOEOBtE6O My Reviews: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/6843548/ My Zombie Wiki Discord: https://discord.gg/cCCA44f
definitly need tutorial and a way to exit the computer. I warn do not use the computer no way to exit it once you use it.
i feel sad for the developers to say it. but this is trash
No, sorry, while entering the terminal, typing via keyboard may be a hacking feature or whatsoever, if you like or not it's not a problem, but I can't figured out how to leave the console. (DOS like Exit command is not known, no icon to close the terminal) No tutorial, no further hints, after a stressed day this is just annoying, please improve the usability: Than we can talk about a positive review!
