This just works for me. Shooting, looting, interesting lore, pretty graphics. Great for a quick session, since the raids only last a maximum of 6 minutes (for me so far). Trying out different builds for your spaceship is fun, and there are noticeable differences between the builds. To get new weapons and gear, you do raids (or missions) where you not only loot resources but also blueprints to craft base and ship upgrades. Since you can see in the raid selection which blueprints are up for grabs in each mission (and the selection is randomly generated after every mission), I quickly got that “just one more mission” feeling, because suddenly there’s a blueprint up for grabs in the next mission that could be useful for my current build. After launch, I had some minor performance issues on my laptop despite having good hardware, but a hotfix was released a few hours later, and it’s been running smoothly ever since. I’m now fighting the second enemy faction, and there’s a noticeable difference in the difficulty and tactics of the enemies. Highly recommended so far :)

an interesting take on the roguelike genre. i can safely say there is no other game quite like this out there at the moment. 8/10, pretty fun and well polished. worth the price.
This game is amazing. It feels like the space games from the 90s and 2000s was taken into the future and given all the little conveniences we're used to, and then was wrapped up in the body of a roguelike. I'll have more to say as I play, but this is really tickling the Escape Velocity Nova nostalgia I have had for years.
I would say its worth 10 bucks if it your kinda of game. The difficulty spikes feels more unfair than challenging and some of the information is ambiguous (especially the last quests, I had to rerun through every mission to unlock the final ship because there is no indication of where it is. Please at least show where the quest are if they require you to use a stargate). Not much content or replayability but for its asking price and dev response this is an easy recommend. Just requires a little patience.
There's a fun loop here, one very much appropriate for bite-sized unwind sessions between longer games, a palate cleanser if you will. At the same time, this can be a huge time sink should you wish it to be. Once you start to understand the basics, which doesn't take very long, you're free to pursue goals (in the form of materials) as you see fit. One of my favorite features is the death run system similar to bloodstains in soulslikes. I lost my best ship and equipment, and I would've been miffed, but I saw that I had the opportunity to take another ship back to get everything I lost. Considering the ship I had in reserve was quite awful, there was a ton of tension in the rescue mission. Fortunately, I was able to pull it off. This is a great refinement of the extraction shooter, one where runs aren't as slow and long as they can be in other games, and the frenetic arcadey shooting that verges on bullet hell at times is very engrossing while requiring just the right amount of mechanical effort. Oh, and no technical issues at all on both Deck and PC.
Omen is a top‑down space extraction shooter with a retro‑futuristic, dark vibe that hits really well. The CRT filter gives everything this gritty, analog feel that I’m honestly in love with. I haven’t sunk a ton of hours into it yet, but what I’ve played makes me want to keep going. It’s not open‑world like Star Valor and that’s actually what brought me to this game in the first place but Omen does its own thing. You pick a level, each one has its own theme, and you drop in, handle what you can, grab your loot, and extract before things get too spicy. Enemies ramp up fast, so every run has that “push your luck” tension. There are missions, a storyline, and enough variety to keep each map feeling different. Overall, I think Omen is going to end up being a standout in this genre. I’m honestly surprised it’s only around ten bucks. For what you get, it feels like a future classic. I play on Steam Deck btw and it runs great.
Not really what I expected. I circle the enemies, get the loot, get out. I have no interest seeing the numbers go up.
I liked the look of it, and thought it might scratch that Escape Velocity itch... but that's not what this game is. Its not a bad game, just not for me. You have your hub/base and you launch 5-6 minute missions where you go to marked POI, destroy ships, take loot, and extract. For me, it got boring fast. No exploration or mystery. Just go to the market locations and leave before the OP reinforcements show up in 6 minutes. No pirates, traders (Not counting the "shop" traders), economies.. just very short missions to interact with POIs while fighting, and then extract.
Just as I was getting into the game, it was over. It felt like there were just a couple of missions per contact, instead of way more so all the lore is for naut when it’s over so quick. I thought the base building was going to expand my base a lot more too. Overall, It had about a third of the missions I was expecting so currently it’s a bit disappointing. At full price, I’d hold off for now which is a shame - it just needs fleshing out a bit, as the core concept is sound.
