Experienced on the Oculus Quest 2
You can view my review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/Z5xjUFRmWMU Omega Blade VR is a challenge type / wave shooter, similar to Space Pirate Trainer, only not half as good. There are 20 total level challenges to try to climb up the leaderboards. They include stuff like your standard wave shooter (with a match color variant or shuriken throwing variant), to target practice with a sniper rifle within a limited time, to reflecting projectiles with blades and avoiding lasers by moving around. You can move around physically within your play space, but you also have these rocket boosters in your hands where you can propel yourself forward. There is no other locomotion and there is no smooth or snap turning (you have to physically turn). Action happens 360 around you for most of the challenges. Game is running on the Unity Engine. On my RTX 3080, I was getting a steady 90 fps. I did not experience any serious bugs or issues. However, the game does have an overall lack of polish. I don't recommend this game because simply I did not have fun for any of the challenge levels I tried. I would say I played 14-15 of the 20 levels available. I tried each different kind of challenge. I just didn't find them fun, original, polished or well thought out. There were only 3 maps and they were all dull to look at, including the enemy types. There are much better games of this type, including Space Pirate Trainer. That game came out in 2016 but is way ahead of Omega Blade in about every facet. So I just can't recommend this game. Omega Blade didn't have to be better than SPT for me to recommend it, but it had to bring something unique to make me want to keep playing it. That never happened. Becerilerinizi test etmek ve Omega Blade şöhretler listesindeki yerinizi almak için çeşitli zorluklarda ateş edin, kesin, atlatın ve bıçak savaşlarında hayatta kalın.
A great game to have some fun with friends. There are few VR out there that allows you to challenge you against other players. The aestetics are very tr0n-like, and the mechanics are very innovative. Very good job for a solo-developer.
Lamă Omega?
"Omega Blade" is a pointless VR tech demo with a number of different game modes, all alike. It's basically a mix of target shooting and wave survival shooting with phoned in, lazy, low effort graphics and even worse gameplay. The game is really simple and unambitious in terms of implementation, more of a tech demo or one of those cases where an amateur developer spends $100 to publish something on Steam Direct to see if it's possible. Yes, obviously it's possible. A proof of concept, tech demo, or something that's less than a little blip on the radar isn't offering anything truly valuable to gamers. In terms of visuals, this features fairly low quality low poly 3D graphics which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and while some developers struggle with creating high quality visuals, failing to do so is a disservice to gamers. It's very difficult to recommend bad looking games. It's VR exclusive, and that shows the developer failed to understand the most basic axiom of VR game design... if the only cool thing about your product is VR support, your product is not cool. This game is fairly dated at 5 years old... and even back then it looked old and busted compared to contemporary, professionally made 3D games of the same period. It looked bad then, it looks worse now. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. There's no initial download price, but the developer was charging $15 USD for this. Don't laugh, it's true... some developers really are that delusional. Steam Direct: Where greed and delusion meet. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It seems like a nice gesture for the game to have no up-front cost anymore, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. This is also a bit of a slap in the face to anyone who showed enough questionable judgement to pay money for this... nobody got refunded. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's over 130 million unique gamers visiting Steam every month. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 2 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Since free games don't contribute to your game collector badge and other profile stuff, is this a worthwhile addition to your Steam library? This is a hard pass. There's no immediate financial commitment, but there are thousands of more compelling games on the platform that will give you a lot more enjoyment for your time.
I think this is a good game with some interesting features. Relaxing and not unfun to play.
