About

A turn-based RPG that is action-oriented but rewards a thoughtful approach. Discover a fantastic land populated by different animal tribes.
You play Reik, a clever member of the tribe of foxes. A chain of unfortunate events involves you in a quest of vital importance to all the peace-loving creatures of the realm. You will have to leave your home village and explore the world to become strong enough to stand up to evil.
The gameplay is inspired by classic Hack & Slays like Diablo and turn-based RPGs like Tales of Maj'Eyal or Stoneshard. However there is no permadeath in this game. It aims to be an accessible and entertaining Action-RPG.
The lore is inspired by the classic Point & Click Adventure Inherit the Earth.
As you explore the land, you'll gain experience and unlock new abilities. Not all inhabitants will be friendly to you. Some will help you with information, others are only interested in trading, and still others will get in your way.
Improve your equipment and collect useful resources in the environment to have a decisive advantage in battle.

IMO Unbeatable, ye I know, just git gut stuff, but was disapointed with last stages of this game, I wanted to finish it but it changed into chore to do, so I gave up
Probably been one of the games I have come back to the most, mechanically its very interesting and the concept of a lot of the later unlocks seem like it would create very fun builds to play. BUT, the pacing is awful, it feels very grindy to get anything meaningful and is also one of the games I have put down the most. Still I'd say its worth a try but requires a lot of patience.
Used my legendary thunder wand to destroy a band of spiders, only to be run down by a giant beetle. Good game!

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Of Blades & Tails is a charming retro-inspired RPG that combines open-world exploration, tactical turn-based combat, flexible character progression, and a richly imagined anthropomorphic fantasy setting into a surprisingly deep and rewarding adventure. Developed by Felix Laukel and published by Pineapple Works, the game follows Reik, a young fox whose peaceful life is shattered after tragedy forces him to leave his home and venture into a dangerous world filled with rival animal factions, ancient ruins, dangerous wilderness, and hidden secrets. While the game clearly draws inspiration from classic role-playing games, it succeeds at modernizing many of those ideas while still preserving the sense of freedom and discovery that made older RPGs memorable. One of the game’s greatest strengths is its setting. The fantasy world inhabited entirely by anthropomorphic animal tribes gives the adventure a unique identity that immediately separates it from more traditional medieval RPGs. Foxes, wolves, bears, rats, and countless other creatures populate towns, wilderness areas, and faction strongholds, each contributing to the world’s personality and lore. The setting never feels gimmicky because the game fully commits to its world-building, creating cultures, rivalries, and environments that make the world feel believable despite its stylized presentation. Exploration is easily one of the most satisfying aspects of the experience. The world is designed with a strong emphasis on curiosity and player freedom, encouraging players to wander away from the main story in search of treasure, hidden caves, optional quests, and dangerous dungeons. Forests, ruins, mountains, abandoned structures, and mysterious underground locations constantly reward careful exploration with useful loot, new encounters, or interesting discoveries. The game successfully captures the feeling of going on a true adventure where every path might lead somewhere valuable. Combat uses a turn-based system that feels tactical without becoming painfully slow. Battles require careful positioning, stamina management, and smart use of abilities rather than mindless attacks. Some encounters reward aggressive offensive strategies while others demand patience and defensive planning, especially against stronger enemies with dangerous abilities. The pacing of combat remains smooth throughout most of the game, avoiding the sluggishness that often affects more complex tactical RPGs. The progression system is another major highlight because it gives players tremendous flexibility in shaping their character. Instead of forcing strict class restrictions, the game allows Reik to develop freely through a wide selection of abilities, weapons, and faction skills. Players can focus on melee combat, ranged attacks, stealth, survival abilities, or hybrid builds depending on personal preference. This freedom makes progression consistently rewarding because every level and upgrade feels meaningful. The faction system adds additional depth to the adventure. Joining various groups unlocks specialized abilities, equipment, and progression options that influence how players approach combat and exploration. These factions help the world feel interconnected while also giving players more control over the direction of their journey. The system also increases replay value because different faction choices can significantly alter character builds and playstyles. Equipment and loot progression are handled very well. Weapons, armor, accessories, and unique artifacts constantly provide opportunities to refine builds and improve combat efficiency. Exploration is consistently rewarded because dangerous areas often contain rare items capable of dramatically strengthening the player. Treasure hunting becomes especially addictive thanks to procedurally generated dungeons and hidden locations scattered across the map. The game’s pacing is another area where it performs impressively well. New enemies, abilities, quests, and regions are introduced steadily enough to maintain momentum without overwhelming the player. Side quests often feel worthwhile instead of functioning as simple filler, and the game regularly encourages exploration through meaningful rewards rather than repetitive tasks. Even though the world is not enormous by modern RPG standards, it feels dense with content and secrets. Visually, Of Blades & Tails embraces a colorful pixel-art style that perfectly complements its adventurous tone. Environments are vibrant and varied, with forests, villages, ruins, swamps, and mountains all maintaining distinct visual identities. Character sprites and enemy designs are expressive and full of personality, helping the animal-based setting feel lively and memorable. The retro presentation also keeps the game visually clear during exploration and combat. The soundtrack and audio design contribute heavily to the atmosphere as well. Music shifts naturally between peaceful exploration themes and more energetic combat tracks, helping reinforce the feeling of traveling through a living fantasy world. Ambient sounds and subtle environmental audio further improve immersion without becoming distracting. Another impressive aspect is how approachable the game remains despite its depth. There are many systems involving combat, factions, equipment, and exploration, but the overall structure never becomes overly complicated or intimidating. The absence of harsh punishment systems like permadeath also makes experimentation feel more comfortable, allowing players to try different builds and strategies freely. However, the game is not without flaws. One noticeable issue is repetition during extended play sessions. Although exploration remains enjoyable for a long time, some combat encounters and procedurally generated dungeons eventually begin to feel familiar once players spend enough time with the game’s systems. The story, while charming and well-paced, also remains fairly straightforward compared to larger narrative-heavy RPGs. The main plot works effectively as a framework for exploration and progression, but players searching for highly complex storytelling or emotionally intense drama may find the narrative somewhat simple. Balancing can occasionally feel inconsistent as well. Certain abilities and character builds become significantly stronger than others, which may reduce experimentation once players discover highly effective combinations. Some enemy encounters also fluctuate between too easy and unexpectedly punishing depending on progression choices and equipment quality. Despite these shortcomings, Of Blades & Tails succeeds remarkably well at delivering a classic-style RPG adventure filled with exploration, charm, and satisfying progression. The combination of open-world freedom, tactical combat, flexible character building, and unique world design creates an experience that feels nostalgic while still remaining fresh and engaging for modern players. For fans of retro RPGs, tactical combat systems, pixel-art adventures, and open-world fantasy exploration, Of Blades & Tails offers a rewarding and memorable journey packed with personality and replay value. Its blend of strategic gameplay, charming world-building, and relaxed sense of adventure makes it one of the stronger indie RPGs currently available on Steam. Rating: 7/10
Un petit jeu pas très long et vraiment sympa ! Charmé par la DA simple et les musiques, peut-être un poil répétitif si on veut explorer le 100% de la map mais globalement c'étais vraiment chouette ! :D
I didn't want to believe the bad reviews and ended up getting the game since the artstyle looks very nice, but this game is nothing more than a massive pile of dung. Armor does nothing, your character is super weak, skills are useless. There's nothing fun playing this, it's a pure exercise in sadomachomist, the developer should be ashamed of garbage.
It feels like a light and easier version of stoneshard, plays well, not much to do after the end of the game though. not much replay value but for the price a single playthrought isnt bad.
