People kept saying the sequel "fixed all the issues" of the original, BUT it still completely drops the ball on the exact same core problems. Instead of jumping straight into the action, the game doubles down on the heavy narrative bloat. You are still forced to manually skip through endless mountains of text just to see a single battle. To make matters worse, the pacing feels even more restrictive than the first entry; if you pick a character like Osvald, the game locks you into a massive, multi-chapter prologue that completely halts your momentum before you can even touch the open world. The combat also repeats the worst mistakes of its predecessor. It traps you in the same punishing solo-play format for the first hour. If you pick a fragile character, basic tutorial enemies will absolute shred your health bar, making the initial loop feel frustrating, unnecessarily hard, and poorly balanced for a lone fighter. It adds minor quality-of-life tweaks, but it completely fails to fix the deep onboarding flaws of the first game.
A series with so much potential that keeps getting ruined by writing done by children. Way too idealsitic and corny, im not an edge lord looking for something crazy but the themes and general message from each traveler is sooooo cringe. The only characters I liked were Throne cause she was hot and Temenos because I liked his attitude. Speaking of Throne, can we talk about her? What the ♥♥♥♥ is going on in her story near the end? Everything before that was passable, it was entertaining enough, up until the freaking bop master shows up and reveals that he cracked everyone???? Whats going on?!/1/1?!. Ill cut the game some slack, the music was beautiful and the combat was fun (except for random encounters every zeptosecond). But mild take! Most JRPS are fun because of the story! Not the actual grinding loop! Yes you can hate on me for not finishing the whole game and giving it a chance, but im not going to sit through 80+ hours of medicore writing just because of nice music and pretty visuals.
oui
Just as great as Octopath 1. Great music, turn based tactical battles and a wide cast of characters each with their own unique personalities that keep together throughout their combined journeys.
