Each storefront's own chart, in its own country — the closest public signal to sales where none is published. A country missing from a list is one we don't collect there, not one where the game doesn't chart.
Revenue comes from in-game items and microtransactions, which our price-based model doesn't estimate.

Stats
How fast this game is gaining ratings — the activity signal available where a store publishes no sales or install numbers.
Measured from our own daily snapshots, not reported by the store. Deliberately not converted into sales: a one-tap rating's ratio to copies sold is unknown on this platform, and guessing it would be worse than leaving it out.
Sums Google Play only; App Store publishes no volume signal, so the true total is higher by an unknown amount.

Great Puzzles - So so app The puzzles are great. The app has limited functionality and sucks power like you wouldn’t believe. Having done 3k NYT crosswords using the app, it’d be nice to more stats, ability to search, and other capabilities avid players would welcome.
Crosswords don’t work on iPad iPad overheats quickly and must exit app.
love it!!! i love it so much that my wordle streak is 39!!
Took My Streak When I downloaded the app, it wouldn’t let me access the crosswords, even though I have an account. And unforgivably, they took my Wordle streak!
Sigh I love playing the crossword daily and digging into the archives, but the changes over the past year have consistently made it far less enjoyable. It’s bloated with games now with no way to arrange them to your liking. The ad for that new game should not be forced into paid subscriber pages without an option to remove it. And finally I no longer enjoy the columns. Forcing the internal links to open the column inside the app is the worst decision. It makes it too difficult to compare the column with the game when you want to go back and forth between them. And forget if you’re trying to do it on the subway. Impossible. It reloads in a way that the browser version does not and if you don’t have service you’re screwed. At the very least the internal column links should open in browser (or have the option to) for archive puzzles.
Brain drain app alternative If you would like to make the time spent on your phone playing games more meaningful, you can’t beat this one!
Glitchy App Sometimes the games load through the app, sometimes they do not. If you ask for help, you are given 15 million hoops to jump through…clear cache, uninstall-reinstall app, log out/log in, blah blah blah. I wonder if people started asking for credit from the subscription, would that get the NYT’s attention? 🤔
Update Now joke Infinite loop introduced. Pushing update now takes me to a website that shows numerous apps and explains data sharing, allows opening the app, only to go back to the only option to update now. Never updates anything. Wanna go again?
Love it I’ve had it for years.
Perfect App I play daily. It’s great for passing time on the commute or while waiting. Started as a complete newbie but can now solve most puzzles. Fun to do, and I learn something, too. My only quibble is that the developers recently changed it so that you can’t open the daily crossword column and swipe between the puzzle and the column. You have to keep opening and closing the column to get back to the puzzle, which is a little annoying.
