It sucks that a game that is as beautiful from a story, gameplay, and environment perspective could be so hideous in its business maneuvering and broken promises. Along with the classic gaming CEO line of "We're not using AI in the game itself just in the background" that basically just means they're laying off the staff who made what we like about it the second they think the technology can replicate the work (it can't and never will). Joining my friends in leaving this.
Good game, but don't go out announcing a price hike with the upcoming 1.0 release to get people to buy the game just to delay it. Makes you look slimy. I'll delay my positive review until either a price drop or 1.0 release.
My Early Access Review The game is off to an incredible start. I can't wait for the 1.0 release in October with a significant bump in content and the new class system (removing the generic stat point system). It also sounds like this game will be supported long term with free content and future paid expansions. If You Are On The Fence About Buying Ask yourself these questions: - Do you enjoy an engaging, well done story with excellent voice acting? - Do you enjoy an immersive fantasy world that has a lot to explore, secrets, and long-term shortcuts to unlock? - Do you like being a treasure hunter / randomized loot based games? - Do you like crafting unique weapons and armor suited to your playstyle? (Tank, Mage, Rogue, etc.) - Do you enjoy a crafting system that has depth and is intuitive, but not overwhelming to comprehend? - Do you like being able to take any of your favorite weapons or armor sets and make them viable for endgame? - Do you like not having to follow a meta only build or two to have a genuinely fun experience through endgame? - Do you enjoy playing PvE coop with friends? - Do you like having the option to play solo? - Do you like having online realms that you or your friends can join without the creator / owner being online? - Do you like having the ability to have offline realms for your own solo play? - Do you enjoy being able to do other things besides combat at times? (i.e. fishing, mining, lumberjacking, etc.) - Do you enjoy having your own house to customize for bonuses, storage, and aesthetics? - Do you enjoy having to choice to earn additional loot through dailies / weeklies that are completely optional? The Final Verdict If you answered yes to a lot of these questions, this game should definitely be for you. A lot more to look forward to soon, but no need to wait. It is absolutely fun now. My only warning is that all progress will reset with the 1.0 release because of the new additions / changes for the full release. At least you'll have a good footing before then by playing during early access. C'mon October!

This company is insane, they're literally scamming people into buying this game. I stopped playing mid-game because i wanted to experience the full release before burning the available content, but that promised 1.0 never comes. Now a new delay for the full release: "We want to be honest...", MF you just posted a FOMO announcement on 7 July about the release of the game... They knew they needed more time, but they're playing with people feelings. This should be unacceptable, I believe Steam should regulate this kind of behavior expecially after they sold 2M copies already.
Scummy devs used a bait and switch release date scheme (delaying the game almost another HALF A YEAR) with early access rewards to squeeze money out of people. Absolute dog behaviour, you should all be ashamed of yourselves. If I could ask for a refund to take back my support of this project, I would.
Dev's baited players with Oct. release and now it's pushed back to March 2027. On twitter CEO stated they used AI, but no AI tag. I enjoy this game ALOT. Bought extra copies during the 40% sale for my friends and partner. Can't stand a "sweet indie team" pulling AAA crap like Ubisoft. Don't lie to your players.
I like the game. I like the exploration. I like fighting enemies and bosses. I like the art design and level design. What kills the fun for me is the constant material grind and the constant inventory management. What makes this even worse is that tools have a durability and it takes too much time to get the resources. The game just feels unnecessarily time consuming and punishing in areas where it shouldn't be. I need material X, go to area A, run around, kill and loot stuff, need to get back to the town, because my inventory is full, run to my chest, run to sell items, then go back to area A, run to where i left of... The gameplay and world are sooo nice and fun, but I am held back by the feeling that the game wants to waste my time with the wrong things. I also don't like the gem system and destroying one thing or the other... again it just feels unnecessary and like they want me to waste more time. I just want to have fun and be able to try things. There is no added value for me. And don't get me wrong I play many games where you need to grind materials or XP and I like games with many systems that I need to feed with items and time, but here it feels too unrewarding and unfun and I just started the game. SMALL UPDATE (after +10h after first review) Despite what I wrote above, I have a lot of fun playing the game. It is so well done and satisfying in many regards. So now I tend more towards a positive review, but will continue playing more before changing anything. UPDATE 2 after 12 additional hours The game is still very fun in many regards, but inventory managment, grinding materials and material processing is still very annoying and unfun. The times I have to go back into town and run to a vendor to sell stuff, run to all my chests in one house to get rid of stuff, run to all the refineries in my other house to process all the materials in a very annoying way and than finaly get back to having fun. It is not unfun to grind and to have to go to town, but it is the quanitity I need to do it. And Inventory upgrades only help in a minor way. UPDATE 3 after 7 additional hours All the boss fight, so far, were very fun. Some bounty fights are very nice, some are annoying. The story and cutscenes are beautiful and the voice acting pulls you into this world. I always want to know what comes next, but now not only the material grind and inventory management is still not fun, but also the level grind is getting unsatisfyingly slow. I am level 25 in Marin Woods and want to level and progress, but also want to skip most of the fights there because of very very very annoying enemies and enemy mechanics. The level design is very well done and satisfying, but the enemies in this area are not only way stronger, but also take way more time to kill and with the new mechanics, they bring with them, it can be an even longer fight. So my only option is to grind a little more, just one or two levels, but I already fought a lot in all the other areas and also did a lot of bounties that start to feel like a chore and the crucible can be annoying too. So now I am at a point where I really want to continue, but don't know what to do that feels like fun. I strongly believe that this will not be a problem in the full game, but for now I struggle a little. Update 4 after 2 weeks of not playing Looking back, I really don't like the upgrade system. Everything is too much work and upgrading new gear and weopons is not fun. Trying out different builds is not encouraged and that is also very unfun and like the game is holding itself back. But the game constantly gives you all different kind of gear, weapons, etc. but storing stuff you may want to use or save for specific stats becomes tedious. The games gives you stuff, but does not really want you to have it or try it - only if you put in a lot of repetitive grind. More choice means more fun, but here it fells like a parent who never had fun as a child and don't want their child to try anything new and just want them to stay in line and "real fun" is only acomplished through hard work. I really hope that 1.0 will be better in this regard.
They delayed the game for 6 months and lying about release date for months bought the game as release was close and EA was pretty good and game seems awesome, I don't feel like playing the game because the progress will be wiped on 1.0 release :( . They should now either allow us to carry our progress or it feels like a waste to play the game because in 6 months progress is gone .
the game has some of the best art direction I've seen in a while. gameplay is pretty unique for a top down souls inspired combat mixed with classic arpg elements. To be completely honest, content such as areas, enemies, and story are lacking at the moment. I'm excited to see the promised 3rd person over the shoulder camera angle (same camera as soulsborne games). On top of all this the game was slotted for release this October (2026).The devs had fear mongered players about their “last chance” for early access rewards. The last date being July 10th 2026. Now on September 1st, Dev drop this statement “Hey Wicked fans, We have some important news, and we want to be honest with you. No Rest for the Wicked's 1.0 launch is moving from October 2026 to March 2027”. “1. Everyone on Steam who purchased No Rest for the Wicked before January 1st, 2027 will receive founders pack rewards, as a thank you for backing us through Early Access”. The studio really fomo (fear of missing out) baited people into a bs timeline just to change it 2 months later. I was always interested in No rest for the wicked, since the game launched in early access. I avoided it on launch due to poor balancing, terrible performance, and a bunch of other problems the game had at the time. Now wanting to see the progress of the game I purchased it on july 4th. The game has massive potential but I personally can't recommend it in its current state. a rocky early access and fomo baiting sales, just wait till full release.
