A review copy was provided by the developer.
🔶 Nitrokill is a old school racing game, race into 6 areas and 12 differents tracks. 🔶 Ok graphics, on my side played on low setting : https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3794758866 12 differents tracks, in 6 locations, ok content but could be better https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3794758983 Simple gameplay, you control your ship and having a boost button, and restoring fuel and shield and weapon in stop pit area. Weak control, full handle the ship with one joystic (and also for accelerating), and also no handle in the air … Only one ship available, with ship customization https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3794759127 Biggest weakness in the lack of content, only single race, no career mode, and nothing to unlock … Game take around 2 hours to complete (completing all 12 tracks). Overall, The strick minimum asked for a future racing game, 12 tracks, ok graphics & gameplay, but no carrer mode and nothing more to unlock, hard to recommend on current state ... 💚💚💚 • Base gameplay work • 12 differents tracks ❌❌❌ - No carrer mode - Nothing to unlock in the game - Poor control (no handle in the air and one joystic to full handle the ship)
Follow IndieGems for more reviews like this one. Full Transparency: I participated in testing this game and have followed its development progress. I still try to be honest in my review. Created by a solo developer from Finland, this game delivers a genuine Hi-Octane feel that feels fresh and modern. It has a banger soundtrack (It really has!) and fun, solid driving mechanics. The game offers a surprisingly unique take on the racing genre, and its futuristic "death race" style is an extremely welcome addition. It is immensely satisfying to blow up your opponents with missiles or miniguns while trying to avoid getting destroyed yourself. Sometimes, tactical braking to let an opponent pass is a better strategy than trying to shake them off your tail. Distinct special events in each map (or at least within each visual theme) keep the gameplay dynamic and engaging. Somehow, it manages to scratch that nostalgic itch from childhood like a Nuuskamuikkusen huuliharpun luritus. Customization options include smoke trails, car colors, decals, and missile types. It's not overwhelmingly vast, but it's enough in this kind of game. Long term progression is currently limited, but the developer has mentioned there might be something coming in the future. The game feels bit shallow at the moment as there is only a single race mode. Visually, the graphics and particle effects are beautiful. However, performance wise, one specific map (Jungle Long) was too demanding for my rig to run smoothly, though every other map ran without any issues. There are couple of small bugs in the game but nothing big. Overall it's very solid. Overall: A fun, chill and accessible little racing game that's perfect for quick jump in play sessions. Its that type of a game that suits me when I dont want to take things too seriously and just want have fun like Michael Shoemaker or Keke Rosburger. Plus, if you're the competitive type, there are some steam achievements plus global leaderboards with world records for every map to chase. Bit shallow arcade racing game, but fun to play and has really good music.
Only has single race, not really worth playing anymore, I should of checked before buying and going over the 2 hour refund mark.
