Horrible performance issues
Honestly the fact that this game is not far from releasing its first DLC and people are still having optimization issues, including myself, is borderline concerning and is a shadow of Koei Tecmo has been in the past with how well both Nioh 1 and 2 runs on PC, hopefully soon it'll be optimized for a more smoother experience when the DLC drops, but so far, I don't feel so hopeful anymore.
i havent experienced a worse product in my entire life. fps literally randomly drops to 30 while my cpu and gpu usage stays at 50% and below 50C. when fps drops below the configured target, everything goes into slow motion, because their engine ties everything with fps. how did they manage to screw this game up this bad is beyond me. this is amateur hour.
terrible performance. the game stutters a lot and the i have the codec error so i cant even see the skills. tried to fix the codec error did everything online and still have this error
Worst running game of the year, and doesn't look better than even nioh 1 let alone nioh 2 enough to justify the performance. Not nearly enough new content to justify the price tag. Closer to a community mod than a sequel.
Tutorial was nice, good gameplay. Just over the 2 hour mark the game becomes unplayable. Lags like hell.
Whatever the issues with optimization are that people are commenting on, I did not really see any issues so far while playing that caused any disruption. Nioh 3 is a good time. I enjoyed the open world and felt that the game flowed much better in this format than the pick your mission from a menu style in the previous games. It feels more like a cohesive world and it speaks more to my preferences. Gameplay is great, I loved the ninja and samurai styles and felt that they were fun. I almost exclusively played in Ninja as I loved how fast and zippy it was. I do not love how magic was implemented via soul cores this time around. In my opinion they should just have 3 forms then, Ninja for items, Samurai for skills and Mage for magic/summoning. As it is now it just doesn't feel right. It's a downgrade from 2 and the implementation is clunky and feels like an afterthought. I found the game to be very easy compared to Nioh 2. Maybe that's because I've been playing a lot more souls-likes over the years but I rarely had any issues with the bosses on my first encounters and just breezed through. I assume in post game that will change though as things become harder. I recommend Nioh 3 for series newcomers as it's the easiest imo to understand and jump into and overall a very enjoyable experience.
Nioh 2 beats that open-world slop.
