After trying to play this game for 20 minutes. For some reason, I didn’t really like the game. It’s not that I don’t like SpongeBob. I love the SpongeBob cartoon and movies; way back when I was little, I used to watch SpongeBob on the TV all the time. But for some reason, this game just didn’t appeal to me. I’m sorry, but I won’t be recommending it and I’d like a refund (even though it’s currently 90% off). Purchased on 10 September 2026 Refund on 10 September 2026

You wouldn't see it being played at EVO but it regularly goes on sale for about $10 USD and I feel that's a pretty fair price for this. It's a comedy platform fighter and we don't see too many of those on Steam, it won't beat Smash Bros but it's a fun time. Seeing Garfield beat up Azula with a giant bat was funny enough to be worth the price of admission for me. Plays nice on a Steam Deck as well as on desktop with a controller, fun with friends and the bots are okay enough. It has a pretty barebones campaign mode and some decent arcade functionality. It feels like something that if you got out of a bargain bin for ten bucks as a kid, you'd be ecstatic. Definitely do not buy for the full price at time of writing of $50 USD. It only has two real pieces of DLC, the Season Pass and the Costume Pass, with the Season Pass containing four fighters that are also available separately if you only want one. For the Season Pass, my thoughts are pretty much the same as the base game, if you can find it for a couple of bucks, I did really like the fighters inside. Iroh and Mr. Krabs are really fun especially. The Costume Pack is pretty lame imo, skip even on discount.
