idk vro its whimsical af

This game rules. The combat is so much fun. The graphics are absolutely gorgeous.
Great for Mental Health
I'm enjoying this nostalgic playthrough!
it should have lasted 10 hours less than it did.
7.5/10 Bittersweet Japanese ARPG. Summon familiars, cast spells, heal people's hearts. The amount of love and effort that went into crafting this game is beyond most games in the market. You can tell the Japanese studio, Level-5, really put elbow grease into writing something akin to a proper United Kingdom-esque, or Mark Twain fairy tale... That takes place in fantasy Detroit! - Artwork done by Studio Ghibli (not Miyazaki, he was busy with Arietty) - Music done by an orchestra - Plays loosely like a "Tales of" game married to pokemon. There's an arena, but choosing an action can freeze time. - Partner A.I. isn't the smartest, but you can work around it - Phenomenal UI. There's a hand-crafted wizard tome that you can read. I've spent a good amount of playtime just reading the book, and it's worth it for that alone. Pages are slowly added as time goes on, and it's such a joy to navigate through. I wish more ebooks or kindle books browsed as well. - Minor functional issues, game's so close to being a masterpiece and just barely misses the mark. - Being canceled from using items or casting spells constantly in certain fights can be frustrating. - Capture and steal rates make getting achievements a slogfest.

Beautiful art and storytelling. Ok combat--not bad by any means, but nothing special. And it's so gosh darn wholesome :)
