Highly enjoyable and has cats. From someone who never really got into puzzle platformers but so far this one is quite addicting, and has me attempting to run faster and faster on even the beginning levels. The first thing I noticed, even before playing, was how much this game reminds me of the old games on GameCube with its mechanics. The 2D to 3D mechanic I thought I was going to hate but it becomes important and playing around with it to see if you can speed up your runs. For $14.99 this is unbeatable and definitely will give you hours and hours of fun. == - [[Audience]] - == ✅ Children ✅ Everyone ✅ Casual Players ✅ Competitive Players == - [[Graphics]] - == ☐ Potato ☐ Really Bad ☐ Bad ☐ Okay ☐ Good ☐Beautiful ✅ Masterpiece == - [[Price]] - == ✅ Worth every pence ☐ Wait for sale ☐ Average ☐ Refund it if you can ☐ Not even worth trying. == - [[Requirements]] - == ☐ Chromebook ✅ Minimum ☐ Medium ☐ Fast ☐ High end ☐ Supercomputer == - [[Difficulty ]] - == ☐ You just need arms ☐ Super Easy ✅ Easy to learn but hard to master. ☐ Hard (first few hours) ☐ Broken Monitor == - [[Game Time]] - == ☐ Really Short (0-2 hours) ☐ Short (2-8 hours) ☐Few Hours (8-12 hours) ☐ Long (12+ hours) ✅Endless Fun == - [[Story] - == ☐ What story? ☐ Better than most ☐ Average ✅ Good ☐ Music to the Ears == - [[Audio] - == ☐ Eargasm ✅ Very good ☐ Good ☐ Not too bad ☐ Bad ☐ What audio? == - [[Bugs] - == ☐ Won't even launch. ☐ Bugs destroy the game ☐ Many Bugs ☐ Few Bugs ☐ You can use them to your advantage. ✅ Nothing (did not encounter any) == - [[11/10]] - ==

Look, there's one thing that matters with a game like this: does it feel good to play? It doesn't. Jumping is imprecise, combat is unclear, and interactions between the cat and the environment are finicky. I want to like this. It's a cheerful concept and the style is great callback for early 3D platformers like Bug! But unless this drastically improves during early access, it's probably not worth your time.
I think there's potential here but it's not there at the moment. A lot of things are unexplained, the mechanics are janky, and there's not an option that plays how I want it to. First off the unexplained things. What is the difference between Action and Casual mode? The only thing I saw is that the leaderboards are global in action mode and local in casual, but there's no reason to have an entirely different mode just for this. There's also times when I got hit by the first boss without anything seeming to actually hit me? So it makes me wonder if the ghost form has a hurtbox but I'm pretty sure it doesn't. Also the menu icons are very difficult to follow, I got stuck in a loop sometimes figuring out what did which thing. The jankiness. When jumping, sometimes the cat stutters when you complete a jump. This screwed me over so much in any combat situation because I was stuck wobbling for a bit and it's not really clear when exactly this happens. In a platformer focused on speedrunning it's not really acceptable. The jump boost doesn't really seem to be clear or precise in how it works either which is essential to speedrunning and collectables. Now possibly my biggest gripe with the game, the fact that it gates off the bosses for you to get "paws" and there's no way to turn this off. I thought this is what casual mode would've done, but I was very disappointed after playing through again (wish there was a way to change modes mid run) to figure out that there wasn't anything. It never explained in the game that paws even existed and I was surprised to find it was a requirement in the first place. I don't like replaying levels a ton especially when the controls don't feel good just to get every single paw, and I just ran out of patience and stamina with the game very quickly, to the point where I didn't want to replay levels that weren't very satisfying to play in the first place.
The game is a lot of fun. Love the 2D/3D option. My daughter loves the kitty's and the story is cool. Great work!!
Only through first world(boss 1 is tough and i dont get it), but a smooth feeling 3d platformer. Pretty rare to see 3D, and I am not a huge fan of the 2d swap puzzle mechanic, but so far good budget 3d game :D
"Wait, how many lives do I have? ... oh... of course!" The game offers an overdose of cuteness and is great for scratching the "I wanna keep retrying till I perfect it" itch :) I wanted to grab a copy and give it a quick try on launch day to support the dev, but I'll definitely be coming back to this one after my schedule clears up!
- Very smooth visuals - Makes you think in 2.5D - Speedruns feel very analog, every movement and timing has a huge impact on your momentum - Collectibles and fighting add to the replayability with the required paw completion for certain challenges - Challenging enough that it could be completed quickly by a pro, but you won't right away because of all the learning it will take to earn your way through the levels - High level of polish overall - Devs are responsive to feedback
Neko Ghost, Jump! is a game with a lot of potential. Despite being "Early Access" the game still suffers from some issues & bugs. Controls are way too tight for specific platforming sections along with everything feeling very mushed together. The story (if there is one) is one of the most confusing aspects as me and a friend watched in complete confusion over the opening cut-scene. I hope to change this review and give it a far more in-depth conclusion after a fair replay.
Very cute and very fun too play even though I die a lot lol.
