Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Aug 17 → 0/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
Video (first 20 mins of gameplay + commentary):
https://youtu.be/EEDzbFeQJ60
Short Version:
Dystopian grocery store cashier simulator, which was both bizarre and weirdly enjoyable. Definite "Papers, Please" vibe from this game. We're not too far into the game yet, but it's clearly aiming to nail the feeling of going to a monotonous job and slowly losing your mind, which is how we felt after 20 minutes of playing, but now we can't stop thinking about it and want to play more.
Longer Version:
Need a Packet shares a lot of similarities with Papers Please. Gameplay-wise, you show up for work, you do your repetitive job, you go home, and you try to figure out how to spend what little money you made. So far we've only played 3 days worth and in that time the game started to build on its complexity, adding more nuances to your daily monotony while you ring up groceries. Aesthetically, the game also looks somewhat like Papers Please with its intentionally drab colors and memorable customer faces. Most of this artwork is pretty consistent with the occasional element looking a little out of place, such as text, but overall not a problem. We had a couple issues at first understanding exactly how to play, as the on-screen tutorial is a little confusing, but honestly the "sink or swim" feeling was part of the fun. Based on the description and screenshots on the Need a Packet Steam page, we can tell some crazy stuff is on the horizon and that it's likely to deviate in its conveyed story than what Papers Please was looking to do. We're both curious and looking forward to seeing how that turns out and overall recommend the game.

A really Horror-Sim that is pretty unique. The days are pretty much the same but they are still not tedious. Its pretty hard even. I really enjoyed it even after first playing it on the PS4. I can highly recommend it.
This game is the biggest waste of my time. The game-play is ♥♥♥♥ the people are ♥♥♥♥ the design is ♥♥♥♥ it is all around just a ♥♥♥♥ game do not by it is a waste of money you're better of gambling it away than buying this game if you can even call it a game.I honestly don’t know what I expected from Need a Packet?, but it wasn’t this level of disappointment. The game is a total mess from start to finish. The premise sounded intriguing—like some kind of quirky puzzle game—but instead, it’s just a chaotic, clunky mess that feels more like a homework assignment than actual fun. First, the controls are unresponsive, and half the time, they don’t even work as intended. The graphics? Don’t even get me started. It looks like something from the early 2000s that was rushed out for a school project. The character design is bizarre and unsettling, which only adds to the confusion. The gameplay itself is about as exciting as watching paint dry. No real sense of direction, no tutorial, just a jumble of poorly explained tasks that make no sense. And let’s talk about the bugs. Constant crashes, weird glitches, and unskippable loading screens—at this point, I think the game is more of a test of patience than entertainment. Overall, Need a Packet? is a waste of time and money. I’d rather stare at a blank screen for hours than ever play this again. Save yourself the frustration—there are better ways to waste your time.
It's a good game but it lacks tutorial and explaination other than an extremely unhelpful ! on the register that doesn't actually have any words to assist you. The game also takes a very long time for the protagonist's mind to decay but I would sitll thumbs up just for the price. that one guy that has a messed up face and only buys fruit with 5s, ♥♥♥♥ THAT DUDE EDIT: This game is ♥♥♥♥ don't waste your money buying it
Как пройти драконов!!!?? КАК???
I wish there was a way to review a game without giving this an recommend or not. This is such a bizarre game that I know it would be perfect for certain people, while a massive turn off to most. Its not for most and I don't think its worth the full $7 for just a try but you can easily see if its for you in time to get a refund. I personally enjoyed this game. Its so strange that it keeps you intrigued on what is going on in the world. The basic gameplay, the register, takes a back seat to the rest of the game as you play. Aspects of the world around you change, the bus ride to work changes into an increasingly difficult bullet hell, and trash begins to pile up everywhere. Now, there's an easy and insane modes, they're not difficulties. Easy is basically the tutorial, to teach you how to scan, and that's about it. Insane, called so because you are seemingly going insane, is the actual story and gameplay. The main gripe I have with this game is that there are zero explanations save for one sticky note that confusingly tells you how to scan objects or take cards. Randomly you have to start checking IDs for alcohol, suddenly you have a tower defense aspect show up with no warning. The things you buy in the 'shop' have no explanation. But ultimately I had to give this game a thumbs up. Its innovative, artistic, and the aesthetic is up my alley. I'd highly recommend it if you can pick it up on sale for a couple bucks just to try it.
I really wanted to like this game, but what gameplay is there is difficult and disjointed.
