Mysterium: A Psychic Clue Game

There is basically no one in the lobby, so I can't play online with anyone. That also means that a bunch of stuff cannot be unlocked, because you need to play online games to do that. So I'm left with AI opponents, which is mostly fine for the story mode (which is very short) But as soon as you play regular games against AI, you quickly find out that the AI is unbelievably stupid. I've played this game IRL and loved it so much! But you really need opponents with actual brains to not get unbelievably frustrated by the other players not understanding the most obvious clues. Outside of story mode, I basically click out of 80% of the games I start because even the most obvious fitting cards regularly do not convince the AI of the one and only logical answer. I've given it a try, I truly have. I have the hours to prove it. The only thing that made this game somewhat worth it, is that I bought it at a massive discount, so at least I got some bang for my buck. But other than that, I can not recommend unfortunately..

Single player (only) review: If you play the multiplayer mode, it's the teammates that make the game for you. I feel it's only fitting to play the game in single-player mode to see, whether the game itself is worth playing. And the answer is NO. The game and it's AI does not work properly and gives it's clues in a very problematic order. Also, it's short and even in it's short length it's repetitive - once you learn the way the AI is "thinking", you're set. It's not intuitive, there are places that should be clickable just to help you navigate through the gameplay, but are not. If you're going to play this with friends, it may be worth it, but I'd always prefer the tabletop version. I can't recommend buying this as a single player.

Very honest replication of the actual board game, (which we own and have bought as a present for others). It's a genuinely warm co-op experience. The better the role play, the better the time had. I would say this was a pandemic misery quasher, but it's more than that. We still find an excuse to play it. Great party game.

Chaos and lots of "WHY DID YOU PICK THAT" when you play with friends. You realize very quickly that none of you think alike. 10/10 would recommend
