Myosotis: My Life Is Not Yours to Take

I loved the synopsis and I loved the execution, although the player is much angrier than I expected. The music set the tone [i]immediately[/i] so I had no trouble getting invested, especially with the good writing. So to be clear: I 100% recommend it. Sometimes you can hover over some words to get additional text, something like Disco's Elysium narrator (separate from the player's thoughts). I love it, they're all distinct from the narration and interesting, however they do interrupt a little the flow of the text. Still a good addition and you definitely should read them all, but yeah. My only real issue with it is the endings. Neither satisfied me fully. In the justice ending it's just one sentence [spoiler]claiming the played character knew the truth since the beginning? don't lie to me, game.[/spoiler]. In the revenge ending it's a bit worse because you basically interrupt Potential Answers Man to end the story quicker. It [i]can[/i] be interpreted as the played character being too angry to care, but I wish it was "foreshadowed" sooner. The opposition of justice and revenge overall isn't really enough to make the endings feel right. It's more like choosing between revenge and romance, rather than revenge and justice. [spoiler]Justice means deciding your new ghost's death is more deserving of punishment than yours.[/spoiler] I won't make this review longer than it already is, you get the idea. (I'm realizing it's an interesting game to think about) [spoiler]Also I can't believe they didn't investigate their killer's stalker and went randomly investigating classrooms instead, their investigation made no sense and their disinterest in the stranger even less[/spoiler] It's in a strange place between "too short to complain" and "I do wish it was a bit longer" because both are true, the story [i]works[/i] but it could have been just a bit more. Still had a great time though!

Every once in a while, a game comes along that functions as a Voigt-Kampff test on you. (Yes, I've been reading Philip K. ♥♥♥♥ novels.) I don't know that I agree with every writing choice, and I still only just cleared the first part at the time of this writing, but already this VN has demonstrated what this format can do that is more difficult for other genres to deliver. I'd have to dock a few points for the character art and the soundtrack, but this is a VN I won't approach flippantly. Whatever place the author went to for inspiration, have a cookie. Have a cup of really good tea, have all the nice things, so you don't go back there any time soon. Thank you for the ride. I fully expect to curl up under the table for a bit after the ending.

THIS "VISUAL NOVEL" IS ALMOST ENTIRELY WRITTEN BY AI!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND IT WAS NOT DISCLOSED IN THE STEAM PAGE!!!!!!! I really wanted to like this game as the character art is clearly beautiful and hand-made, but the background art is, at the VERY LEAST, edited using an AI program. I wouldn't be surprised if the meaningless, monotonous music used generative AI as well, but I can't say that for sure. The writing, however, is OBVIOUSLY "written" by a generative AI program. It uses all the classic markers of a poorly written dark romance young adult novel that is characteristic of AI-written fiction nowadays. It overuses the 'rule-of-three' in its verbose descriptions of simple feelings, i.e. "Not ___, not ___, just ___." A cityscape is described to be a "suburb, a few miles from the east coast," a phrase that makes no sense. There are so many obvious tells that if I were to describe them all, I'd have just rewritten the entire story myself. The reason why it's a roughly 200,000 word "visual novel" is because it's written by AI! The pacing is horrific, and the few choices the game lets you make as the player hardly make sense. I'm sure there was an original thought somewhere in the initial writing phase, but the writer seemed to lack the skill and/or confidence to try and execute an original story without using AI. My time was entirely wasted. Please do not play this game, especially since it DOES NOT DISCLOSE IT USES AI TO WRITE THE STORY!

i don't usually play vns but this one has a very cool concept!!! also the atmosphere is set really well with the music and visuals

I really enjoyed this relatively gruesome plot there...since this one isn´t too long, i advice to play it yourself. But i really love the Artwork and almost relaxing music of Myosotis. Its a shame it doesn´t come with the Soundtrack or a small digital artbook, for me to enjoy afterwards. Still would give it a 8 out of 10 Funpoints there.
