200% recommend!! I'm a big fan of puzzle, mystery and detective games, the Ace Attorney series being the best in the genre (in my opinion). But I have to say Murders on a Yangtze River is both an homage to these games, and a clear step up. Not only are the visuals and the music gorgeous but the mysteries are intricate yet remain plausible and always logical. In these kind of games, the solutions are sometimes a bit far fetched and not realistic and I've always found it frustrating - ending up online looking for the solution because a certain point or chapter makes 0 sense and at that point i just NEED to know the end. It's not the case here - of course some of the murder are really intricate but they still manage to be believable. You can feel how much effort was put in the historical details and also basic science. . The help clues are actually helpful without revealing anything. They are particularly helpful when the English translation is the little bit off (which is not often but as non native english speaker it can be a bit puzzling sometimes). It's the first time I play a game like this and all the clues, the way the character thinks and the clues to present are actually make sense - yet it's not easy to untangle everything. At the end, practically all questions are answered directly and if not, the solution is implied, which I find really satisfying. Honestly cannot wait to play the next one !!

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

An excellent game and story, the store description doesn't quite do the title justice. This is not simply "Chinese Ace Attorney," this is a 6 chapter epic where all the cases are linked in a satisfying manner, with a plot rooted in the history of the place and time of the late Qing dynasty. There is nuance sprinkled throughout every inch of this game's writing, and no character is wasted. Not even the dead ones. Highlights:

Not only does the game have a good explicit hint system, but presenting specific wrong answers can also yield unique dialogue that will either nudge you in the right direction or spell out why that otherwise intuitive evidence is wrong. These are everywhere. This is rare even in Ace Attorney, and indicates either a lot of playtesting or just plain good wit on the part of the devs. Possibly both.
The art is drop-dead gorgeous.
No, the English dub is not missing. What you are hearing is intentional design. Some characters speak Chinese in their VO, some speak English. Some do both, and there's meaning in which one they choose in a given situation.
Again, the character writing. Need I say more?
Nitpicks:

Your computer's set locale is not detected when you launch the game for the first time, meaning the game will default to its native language of Chinese no matter what. If you can't speak Chinese to save your life, this means a Steam guide is the only thing that will help you get the game in a playable state. This is a patchable issue and I hope the devs address it, this was probably the source of a lot of refunds in the foreign market.
The English translation and certain English VO lines deviate from one another sometimes, particularly in the scenes involving British police. This doesn't break the game, the information conveyed is the same, but this can mess with immersion.
Character sprites specifically in Chapter 1 sometimes stand in spots that don't make geometric or physical sense. The studio seemed to wise up to that with every other case, all other cases don't have this problem.
