1/10 Movie Quest is an abandoned game with no running servers making the project very cool but effectively unplayable created by a problematic developer. My takeaway: Movie Quest is such a fun and interesting idea that sadly made it to fruition and died before I got the chance to experience it. It looks like the thought behind it was a MMO movie theatre simulation where you can join others in theatres that played public domain movies. Seemed like such a great idea for long distance couples and friendships. It also looks like, from previous game announcements, it once had a semi-active community and had the intention of updating to add laser tag and arcade machines. It seems to have had some limited character customization, holiday events, and exploration. This isn’t the case anymore and I hope no one ends up buying this thinking they're getting to experience all of the above. The game is abandoned and shouldn't be on Steam. Upon loading up the game you’re directed to a settings scene but when you try to load up the International Server nothing happens. If you try to click on their linked Discord it’ll show up as disbanded and invalid. I think I’ve had this game sitting in my library for a while and it only popped up on my radar after seeing it says it was released this year in 2025. Unsure why they updated it to have been released this year but removed all store page information but that is the state of the game currently. Everyone should also be aware of the predatory practices the Devs have been displaying to the community. Multiple people have experienced their concerns and comments being deleted by the Dev. Current players were also seemingly not given notice of the game shutting down. Dev has attacked community members for speaking out. Doesn’t look like there’s any future plan to revive this game but it is continuing to be sold as unplayable. Pros

Super cool idea.
Cons

Unplayable
Abandoned
Problematic Dev
Some users reported having the option to pay the Dev $200/month subscription? What is going on?
Ghosted The Community
Ignores The Community
Continues To Be Sold On Steam Despite Current State-Of-The-Game
Dead Discord Server Still Linked
Dead Server Still Linked
Deleted All Store Page Information
Nightmare Scenario Game Experience

I never made it past the initial start up. :(
To see more reviews like this one come support me and follow this curating page! Server shut down, you can't play the game anymore. The release date is nonsense, as the game didn't receive any updates since December 2023. Shouldn't be sold anymore, as it doesn't function any longer.
Sowas muss man unterstützen !!!!
This is quite a fun game as it is, And i know this is going to get better and better. Streaming movies from other sources, more quests and more arcade games will make this game so good. .For one person developing it, it is a very good start indeed. I am happy to be on the ground floor with this game. I hope it makes you a ton of money.
Move along, there's nothing to see here.
Absolute 10/10 with friends. Got to enjoy the movie theater experience with friends across the country for a cost of less than 1/3 an actual movie ticket. It's a little lacking at the moment, but still worth every penny and really hope the dev keeps it going.
I stumbled onto Movie Quest last year when looking for VR software oddly enough. It's a quirky little movie theater simulator in which you can watch an ever rotating selection of feature length public domain films. I've always had a special place in my heart for these types of apps. There's something about moving your character through a virtual theater and watching a film in game that excites me more than just watching Youtube. If you enjoy certain aspects of VR, such as SteamVR home or Bigscreen you might get a kick out of Movie Quest. Not having to wear the VR headsets for the duration of the movie is a big plus of course. Solid thumbs up, the price is right and the dev is super active and friendly. Unusual indie titles like this one certainly deserve more love!
Its honestly what i wanted to expect. Its A theater with quests and actual movies. cant wait for more content
I love the niche setting of this game, it's a fun way to spend time with friends and watch a couple golden oldie type films. We've spent a good amount of time on the mini games to earn enough tickets for ridiculous outfit add on's. I am really impressed that this is made by one developer and I can't wait to see how this game progresses and flourishes in all the updates no doubt still to come <3
