Mothkeep

I have but one word for this game : ADORABLE ! I had such a great time collecting moths, learning about them, decorating the garden and petting the cat. The background story is very touching and adds a lot to the atmosphere. I also love the balance between cosiness and science (i want to learn more about moths now!!). It's quite easy so if you need challenge and difficulty to enjoy a game, it might not be for you. But if you yearn for a breath of fresh air away from our chaotic world, go for it at once ! Edit : I have a slight problem but i don't know if it's me being useless or if it's truly impossible. I wanted to play the game again and it seems like you can't start a new game once you're done ? Even by uninstalling and re downloading the game ? That's too bad, i would have loved it.

This game is a delight! All the environments are very peaceful and I had a lot of fun decorating them and searching around for new moths. All the illustrations of the moths in their different life stages were beautiful and I appreciate the zoom feature in the journal that lets you look at them up close. If you're looking for a calming game to play for a few hours, you can't go wrong with this one. This is a real gem and I'll be coming back to decorate the habitats a lot more whenever I feel like I could use a cozy half-hour of moth-watching. All the outdoor habitats are lovely but I want to also point out the Apartment as an element of the game I especially liked. Having an indoor moth habitat and giving the player items like yarn and flour and tea leaves to attract the moths that like to live there is such a thoughtful way to encourage players to reframe how we think about the bugs we encounter in our spaces sometimes; not as pests getting into our stuff, but as neat little animals that we coexist with. If there's one small bit of constructive criticism I could offer: I think it could've been fun if the shop didn't tell you exactly which moths are attracted to each object you can buy. It would introduce an extra element of learning if the player could discover through observing the habitats which moths like each plant/decoration and then use that knowledge to pick what they need from the shop. The way the shop works now is still very good - it was helpful for tracking down the last couple eggs I needed for my journal - but just thought I'd mention it. Thank you for making this, Ivi. This is a super cute cosy little moth game. The gameplay loop is simple, the premise is simple but it is so wonderfully wrapped in a beautiful artstyle, music, game design, and - the best part - moths! I tend to speed through games, and I do wish I had paced myself a little more and took a little more time to enjoy the vibe of this Mothkeep. Mothkeep is a game you can feel the love the developer has put into it. For a couple hours of cosy moth-y gamey goodness, this game is cheap and if you're unsure, this is your sign to just try it :)
