🌆 Move in!
Match your vibe to one of the four apartment buildings in town. Each building has its own unique storyline, apartment layouts, community events and problems quirks! As your life in Garland grows, let Ryan at Quality Real Estate help you with upgrading to a bigger space or even a different building… for a very reasonable fee.
💼 Get to work!
You’re gonna need a way to fund your extravagant new lifestyle, so consider taking on part-time jobs. Join the gig-economy as a delivery person, track down suspects as an ethically challenged private investigator or dabble in stock trading. If you have some spare time you can always sign up to the Council’s Recycling or Initiatives programs to earn cash for bigger community projects.
💖 Build deep connections!
City life can get lonesome so befriend or romance a diverse cast of 22 residents through relationship events and watch their stories unfold. Nothing brings people closer than accidentally stealing a helicopter together, right? With 18 romancable characters, customisable commitment and break up options (dump that pesky partner via sky writing!!) there’s heaps of ways to connect… or disconnect.
🌿 Get involved!
Clean up trash, scrub graffiti, pick wild herbs and gather pebbles to polish into crystals to make your neighbourhood beautiful. Someone’s gotta do it, and your local community is what you make of it.
⏰ Balance your time and energy!
Feeling tired from all that hard work? Try one of Dr Hannah’s specially formulated Buffins for that extra pep in your step! Feeling mentally drained? Take some time out to relax at your window and just watch the world go by. Manage your physical and mental energy to get the most out of every day.
🎨 Decorate your space!
Forget worrying about your security deposit in Garland! Grow houseplants, change your wallpaper, rearrange furniture and make your apartment feel like home!
🎉 Live that life!
Enjoy seasonal festivals, fish, photograph wildlife, contribute to the museum or just take life one day at a time. Cities grow and change, so as development continues you’ll find more things to love around every corner.
💖 See you in Garland!

Welcome to the City...this game is Stardew Valley, Coral Island meet Moonlight in Garland...Love this game, can't wait to see what more future updates bring to the game...
I love this game! It's a great flip on the city to farm stereotype in most cozy sim games. The writing has made me laugh out loud several times and you can tell how much care and love was put into Moonlight in Garland. Violet, the dev, is so kind and actively fixes reported bugs in the Discord. I'm always ecstatic to support talented women in game development!

As another reviewer has said, I wish there was a neutral option for recommending/not recommending. This game is full of potential, but also buggy. Yes, I know it's in EA still, and the developer works hard on the bugs and making this work. I first bought this a year ago, and played a few times (didn't get far because of how it was functioning then), and just picked this up again yesterday. While some functions are much better than a year ago, there are new ones to go along with it. I swear the mental energy is a lot harder to keep up than before. I wish there was a function to turn that off, to be honest. As I said, this game is full of potential. I love the idea of starting over in a big city, the opposite of the life-sims I tend to play where you move away from the big city to start over. The art style is cute and there is plenty for you to do... if you have enough physical and mental energy to do so. I will keep periodically checking in on this game, and I hear leaving early access is on the current roadmap. I am looking forward to seeing the complete game.
I played Moonlight in Garland and participated on the Discord back before 1.0 launched, and even as a very much 'in-progress' game it was absolutely delightful. I've been watching as things progressed and was honestly just waiting to be able to sink some hours into it, you know? So I'm still early into gameplay as I finally get started in earnest, only halfway into the first season. I'm really excited for everything that's to come! Sure, we all like games where we move to the countryside to start over or save your family farm, but Moonlight in Garland presents another version many of us experience: moving from the country/small town to the city to start anew. The NPCs, neighbourhoods, economy, resources, tasks, apartments, etc. in Garland are really creative, fun, and totally unique. I love being able to do urban foraging, collect CDs, collect recycling ($), pet squirrels and sparrows, and find NPCs unique recipes around town over time. I like that there is no rushing or combat, and no consequences to not completing daily errands/tasks. The visuals and the MUSIC (<3) are fitting for the game and really relaxing. If you like whimsy and chill, this is it. Extra positive notes: > The solo dev, Violet, is really engaged, responsive, creative, and hardworking. > A lot of the mechanics are similar to other chill life sims or RPGs so the learning curve isn't huge > The game wiki has an app . > There are good accessibility modifications available, including adjusting text formats, skipping mini-games, and changing colour contrasts in the UI Extra friction notes: > Toggling in and out of your phone in-game can get a bit clunky -- def recommend setting up your key map for your preferences > Toggling between actions when you're holding something can get a bit clunky (I need to adjust my key map!) > I loathe having to get and use a spade or hammer to dig/repot plants or move anything. To be fair, it's realistic, but it's annoying to stop and make inventory space and get the tool from the fridge (household storage). I say this in early game time with starter backpack, and with a tiny apartment lol... just a little quirk for me!
