Reviews
I, unfortunately, still echo a lot of the same sentiments I had with the previous game for this one. I was really excited seeing there would be a new game, but even an hour in the best way I can describe it is "this should've been a free update". Of course the game has only been out for like 5 hours by the time I'm writing this so things are bound to change as updates come and I get further in the game, and I will (hopefully remember) to update this review then.
Pros

Some nice QoL features. Love the addition of a color slider. Helps make clothes selection feel bigger.
FINALLY more skintones. I forgot to mention this in my review for the previous game but that one's skin tone selection was massively limited. Darkest you could go was "got sunburned but now has a slight tan". Very welcome change
The gameplay is slightly different, in a welcome way! I like the fact you can choose different models instead of just having your player character and the occasional partner model. The producing side of the gameplay adds a little more intrigue and spice to the gameplay, for lack of a better phrase lol.
Graphics are better for sure.
Love the addition of the special offer jobs and 3D backgrounds. Once again adds some more interesting things to do for jobs.
I like the addition of voice acting/voice clips, and the dialogue seems to be more full of personality!

Cons

Multiple times have I quit the game only to not be able to open it next time. I had to reinstall my whole game to get it to work again and I don't have the patience to do it again.
I can't lie, I hate the character models in this. Debut3 had a cute anime style that I really liked, reminded me of the 3DS nicola game as well as Style Savvy. This one is just too uncanny, trying to be realistic while still cutesy and anime. This is especially highlighted by using the darkest skintones for characters. Using the color contacts for characters always makes them look like 🧿👄🧿. Get some brown contacts girl.
Controls make me wanna tear my hair out. Using joysticks in the dressing-up menu is a nightmare and I've already almost sent my models out wearing nothing but some shoes and an inner top at least 10 times. D-pad is usable and honestly preferred but I don't see why this is an issue when it wasn't in Debut3. Also the color slider menu is so much more tedious since you can't use the joystick to move between hue/saturation/brightness.
Soooo many reused assets. Main reason to my "this should've been a free update" mindset. Practically 90% of the poses are the exact same from Debut3. Clothes do seem to be different for the most part though, so at least that's a point for the pros.
Stock image frames with lorem ipsum strikes back. Again, said this before in Debut3 review, but I can give more grace since the devs are Japanese, but it still comes off as very cheap and rushed in most cases.
Learned their lesson and added dark skintones, but still no textured hair.
I think the clothing selection is even SMALLER than Debut3. The color selection tool seems to have made the devs be like "fine, YOU do it" to the complaints of how small the clothing selection is in a fashion modeling game.
Why the HELL are we given four jobs but can only do two a month??? Why??? What's the reasoning for that?????

tl;dr : just play style savvy on an emulator. if you already have and you really got a hankering for fashion games, play the previous game. and if you've done both of those, then this game is up your alley. but maybe not for $40. The game is bad. Not worth 35€. It really feels like they just slapped the console version of the game on Steam. I couldn't access any settings within my first hour of playing, so no way for me to control sound volume in game, or change the game display. The controls (not even mentioning the fact that it doesn't support keyboard and mouse) are terrible and counter-intuitive. The game seems to struggle with scaling on a bigger screen (pixelated textures). And the 3D models looks terrible in my opinion.
Like others said, this really is just a crappy port of the switch game. I did not have any issues with the switch version in the time that I played it, but I've had a few annoying issues with the PC port so far. I'd still recommend the game because i really like the game itself and I'm double dipping on PC because I'm a shill, but this really is a lazy port and you NEED a controller. Issues or annoyances: - When I first booted the game, my Xbox controller wasn't recognized after I turned it on. I ended up closing the game, connecting my controller with USB, and starting the game again. My controller worked fine after that. - The keyboard controls are HORRIBLE. The in-game UI only uses controller icons, so good luck trying to figure out which keyboard button matches it LOL. While in the character creator, the "WASD" buttons act like the up/down/left/right controls, but its broken in the sub-menu for the face settings. It works fine in the other categories like makeup, but you literally can't go up/down in the face settings. Also, space and enter seem to both be used as the "Confirm" button, which is annoying. The keyboard buttons to switch between menus and sub-menus is 1/2/3/4 which is really tough to get used to. If you ONLY have a keyboard, then you're gonna have a terrible time. - There's a specific scene in the beginning of the game where the screen literally goes all blank white with nothing visible. I can hear the music, sound effects, and dialogue when I press buttons to advance the story. Eventually the game loaded back in once it loaded a new scene. This happened twice to me at the exact same point in the story (I restarted the game to re-do my character). I wouldn't be surprised if this happens again later in the story, and if it does, that would be extremely disappointing to miss those scenes. - There's no video settings, not even fullscreen/windowed!! But it does work if you do Alt + Enter. Screenshotting a finished portrait results in a pretty pixelated picture, even with the game fullscreen on my 4K monitor. Also quick tip, the portraits will be in landscape orientation. But if you open the folder on your computer where Steam puts these screenshots, you can rotate the picture using Windows into a portrait orientation and Steam will see the picture as the new orientation. So you don't have to post sideways pictures!! But it'll have a massive space on the sides lol. Positives: - It has Mirei
There are comments in the bug section that says it is bugged with the photo op scene on the beach and you can not get any further in the game. They have not answeard nor removed the bug, so that makes me think they do not care. If the game worked I might have liked it. I will try get a refund from Steam.
Its a cute game! But I think its better to play on a switch than to play on PC..
最终目标,则是参加一年一度的nicola Show,成为所有人都认可的 No.1 模特——Top of nicola!
