It's been ages since I last played Mirror's Edge, recently went back and the game holds up great. Honestly, the jank makes it even better. Easily one of the best movement in any game I've ever played. There's weight to it that you can learn to manipulate and contributes so well towards that feeling of "flow." It's been ages since I last played Catalyst, remembered not liking it, didn't want to say that it's bad without having played it. It's open world slop. There's so much to say about it but suffice to say that every single aspect that made the original interesting and fun has been stripped down, sanitized, then sanded with the toilet paper of an EA CEO. To explain why it's such a tragedy though... Bigger map means more fun options when running right? No. It means you run in a straight line for 5-10 seconds before being faced with the thrilling choice to either jump off the box or jump off the railing. Either way you land on the same part of the same roof and this repeats until you get to your destination. You don't even see most of the map anyways because you're treading over the same needlessly long, nondescript, empty hallways over and over. Even writing this just having finished the story, I'd say that the final mission has the only real memorable moments in the whole game. The absolute biggest thing (for me) is that they neutered the movement. There is no weight or momentum. The camera feels like it's the head of a chicken with how stable it has to be whenever it vaults over objects. They took out the fun jank but still keep random contextual movements deciding that you're wallrunning into an abyss. Even if they had the greatest level design known to mankind, it'd be hard to enjoy it when getting and conserving speed feels completely unrewarding. If you want more Mirror's Edge, look into Mirror's Edge speedrunning. Side jump boosts, kick glitches, wallrun boosts, these things are relatively accessible and make the game look completely different while still keeping what's fun at it's core. You won't get that here. Here you get an EA executive looming over your shoulder telling you how to play the game.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 23: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Buen juego, pero el primer mirror me gusto mas.
Amo o jogo, pena que é da EA
Where to start... Catalyst is a game that in theory should be very fun and the potential to improve upon the original is truly exciting to envision. A relatively open world, amazing environments, better parkour in a city where you have several ways of getting to your destination. An interesting story and great characters. Sadly, this is not what Mirror's Edge Catalyst brings to the table, at all. The combat is clunky as hell and enemies really only feel like they're forced on you as a means of inflating the difficulty/challenge. The entire premise of the combat has potential, but it gets too repetitive and boring quickly. The story is soulless and absolutely uninteresting in all the worst ways. It is FILLED to the brim with boring and repetitive delivery missions/data chips, shards etc etc. It feels extremely cheap and just plain lazy. It adds nothing to the game, other than "things to do", if you can even call it that. Oh and lets not forget that EA, being the greedy scumbags that they are, shut down server access for in-game challenges/races etc. This effectively blocks you from truly finishing the game (100% achievements, max xp etc). Its not a huge deal and there are community workarounds, but EA has effectively pulled the plug on the entire game. The first game is definitely not perfect, but at no point did i feel like this was an improvement. Truly a waste of a franchise. Edit: I only have around 3 hours of game time on Steam, but i have played significantly more on Origin (a while back, now the EA App). TLDR: Beautiful and shiny box, nothing of value in it.
dus still good
yayyyy i love jumping off buildings into oncoming traffic
