Well, what can I say? I've had to postpone my FFVII Rebirth playthrough just to keep playing and beat this game, if that says something. A fine tuned experience that mixes old school Zelda progression / level design with bullet hell induced friction and twin stick shooter gameplay. This got me hooked from the very first minute to the last few hours, good stuff.
If you want spend some time playing & enjoying a game, pick this up. It's quite like the legendary SNES title, Zelda III: A Link to the Past... but with a spaceship. You explore a map, get power-ups, visit dungeons, solve puzzles, and beat bosses. ...However: if you don't actually enjoy spending time playing games and want to speedrun every game for trophies or whatever, you should probably pass on this one. (You should also slow down a bit and take the time to enjoy things, but whatever. It's your life.)
Imagine a SHUMPS combined with Zelda like world, u get Minishoot Adventures. This is such a delightful indie games. Can't recommend it enough!!
Nice and breezy zeldavania with a twin-stick shooter twist. Cute art style and tight gameplay. Doesn't overstay it's welcome and is the right amount of challenging. An easy recommend to fans of either genre!
Here's what you do:
This is a twin-stick shooter where you explore a world and find new abilities like a Metroid or Zelda like game. You also defeat enemies to level up then choose how to upgrade your stats. As you rescue other ships they appear in the starting area where some of them offer extra abilities you can buy with red coins and gold beetles you find in the world.
What I like:
+ The leveling up and upgrades came at a good pace. I like how you can re-spec your ship whenever you want by taking away spent upgrade points to apply to other stats so you can adjust your ship based on the specific challenge you are up against (boosting my speed whenever I had to do a race). + There are plenty of secrets and optional challenges, including challenge rooms and bosses to fight in the post game.
What I don't like:
- There are three achievements tied to beating the game at each of the three different difficulty levels. It is good that if you beat the game on a higher difficulty you also get the achievement for the lower difficulty, but the achievement you get is tied to what difficulty you chose at the start of the game. If you push it up to a higher difficulty soon after, then you still only get the lower difficulty achievement. You must beat the entire game at the highest difficulty in order to get that achievement. I like that you can change difficulty mid-game, but I don't like how that doesn't apply toward the achievements. - There seemed to be a bit of a difficulty spike near the beginning when I first had to enter the forest. There was a long gauntlet of enemies I had to defeat that took a very long time to kill at my power level, but it seemed like the only place I could go at the time.
Conclusion:
This was a lot of fun to play. The pacing had me wanting to keep playing for long sessions even though it can be played in short sessions. I don't know why there is a ' in the title at the end of Minishoot'. It's not shortening a word...it's not posessive...so why is it there?
Classic Zelda Remixed
Krass! ⚡
Wow. That was some sweet 10 hours of gaming. Worth full price to support the devs. Zelda 16 bits Shmup Edition. Don't let the initial impression of the simple grap[hics fool you - this is a true gem of a game. Well done devs, well done. I'd buy a sequel with my eyes closed.
This unlikely combination of twin stick shooter/bullet hell and 2D Zelda-style adventure is near-flawless. It's a joy to play, and the exploration and progression are perfectly paced. While the game is relatively short, there's a ton to find and unlock. There is also some endgame content to explore post-credits. The story is light, but it hardly matters when the gameplay is so fun. Highly recommended.
Great fun - Great Music - Zelda in a Spaceship with Bullet Hell - In many ways an old school game but feels fresh and new too
