Got 2.5k hours in this. I used to be consistently top20 in both 1v1 and unarranged 2v2. The game came with the devs vision. It was a fun game. Crazy mechanics. Easy to say they were imbalanced. But is a sword vs a lance imbalance, just because one cuts better and the other has more range? That was the logic of the community and their voice. And then, everything became so numbed down. So "balanced'. That there were no big mistakes that could be done anymore. You could no longer play a certain mechanic or strategic angle anymore. A single meta was created. And everyone had to play the same way. It was no more balanced or unbalanced than before. But the low testosterone community got what they wanted: A game so dull that they didnt have to use their brain anymore to counter a wide range of diverse mechanics.

people only playing same meta decks, u see same cards every fight, no more individuell thoughts on decks.. game lately scks big time
Although there are still some players, the game is basically on life support since the UI downgrade they did a few years back.
game was fun when it worked, years ago now it started insta crashing for me and I can't even get help with it. Thier contact support sends you to a discord group, only person that responded had nothing to do with the game, just some rando on the server. I went and found an email to try to get help with whatever the issue is and I haven't heard back. I've seen others with similar issues so I'm just assuming this ♥♥♥♥ is broken.
This is the game i always searched for. Its FTP so go check it out. But careful its addictive.
went through an annoying ass tutorial and then I couldn't even play against my friend because of "duplicate masters" when I only have one master
ХОРОШАЯ ИГРА
Minion Masters is in a very specific, almost "cult classic" state in 2026. It holds a very positive rating on Steam, largely due to the strength of its core mechanics, but the reality for a new player today is quite different from what those thousands of legacy reviews might suggest. At its heart, the game is a brilliant hybrid of card battler and lane-based tower defense. The gameplay loop—managing your mana, controlling the bridges to gain experience, and building clever deck synergies—is genuinely addictive. When you pull off a perfect counter-play or a massive combo that catches your opponent off guard, it feels like one of the best tactical experiences on the market. It is easy to see why so many people have hundreds of hours in it. However, if you look at the recent consensus and the current state of the community, there is a clear divide. The biggest point of contention is that the game has entered a state of maintenance. There is no new major content being added, and while balance updates still occur, many long-term players feel that the development team has lost its way, moving toward a meta that favors "one-push" strategies that can feel repetitive or unfair. Because the active player base is relatively small now, you will encounter bots frequently in lower rankings, which can make the early-game experience feel hollow or disconnected from the "epic multiplayer" promised in the store description. For a new player in 2026, the value proposition is tricky. It is free-to-play, which makes it an easy risk, but it also means you are catching a game that has already seen its peak. You might find it hard to catch up on the card collection if you are not prepared to grind, and the transition from casual play to the "sweaty" competitive scene can be quite jarring. The technical side also shows its age, with an interface that often feels like a mobile port, which can be clunky when played on a PC. The verdict is that Minion Masters is a fantastic, highly innovative game that deserves recognition for its design, but it is effectively a "completed" experience. If you are looking for a game to sink a thousand hours into and see grow alongside an active, booming community, you might be disappointed. But if you want a fun, free, and genuinely unique tactical experience that you can pick up for 10-15 minutes at a time, it is still a hidden gem. Just go in with the expectation that you are playing a mature, settled title rather than a live-service game in its prime.
