I'm usually not a fan of visual novels, but this one genuinely managed to hook me with just how disturbing its atmosphere is. In the game, you play as a "voice of reason" inside the mind of a depressed, schizophrenic, paranoid, and severely anxious girl. After taking a new medication, a strange voice appears in her mind and guides her as she tries to go to the store to buy milk for her mother. Her mother also seems to be suffering from serious psychological issues, possibly as a result of the same underlying trauma that affected the girl. What makes the game especially unsettling is how it presents all of this. The art style is extremely simple, using only pink and black, yet somehow it creates an atmosphere that constantly gives you chills. It's not necessarily scary in the traditional sense, but there's something deeply uncomfortable and disturbing about the entire experience. And the best part? The game is only about 15 minutes long and is incredibly cheap, so there's really no reason not to give it a try. Even if you're normally not into visual novels, I'd definitely recommend experiencing this one for yourself.
