To start things of. I recommend it if you like autorunners, because this game was made with the intention of never stopping, even giving you an option to turn on autorun. (That option only really exists for like half the game, because the other half autoruns anyway. The surfboard always autoruns and once you control your dog, it also autoruns... and bossbattles do too.)
Everything is carefully crafted to just exactly work in one intended way (sometimes more, but later on it becomes more like a puzzle on how to run through it), so you die on every obstacle to find out how to do it, which is a little frustrating without checkpoints imo, but feels very good, once you get the run done.
So if you don't mind a bit of trial and error, until you memorized the harder stages and bosspatterns, you're gonna die and try again and again until you know whats coming.
Which brings me to my next point... the bossbattles are basically just set in stone patterns that you need to memorize. To be fair, it would be pretty hard to do them first try, because everything is happening so quickly. It would be very frustrating, if they had random patterns and you COULDN'T learn them, but at the same time, having to redo 2/3 of a bossfight multiple times, just to find out how to solve the last piece of the puzzle, is a bit annoying to me personally.
I've said a bunch of negatives, but in general, the controls feel quite nice and responsive, though I must say, that having the button to slide under objects and throwing an apple at an enemy on the same button, depending on if the game wants you to slide or not, was also confusing at times. There were points in which I wanted to slide under enemies, but the game wanted me to jump and throw something at them, or jump on top of them, which meant I couldn't slide and only had this one path to clear the obstacle.
At last, I don't get why I had to turn windowed mode on in the config file and not in the optionsmenu, like every other normal game. The game works perfectly in windowed mode, so there is no reason not to add the option... also I found no way to change languages. I play my games in english everytime, even though I am german, but I use a german steamclient, so it sets the game to german, without any option to change it to english. Its just a minor designflaw, but I don't like german dialogue in games, always feels a bit cringe to me.
Overall I said way more negatives than positives, probably because it is easier to say what I didn't enjoy, but if I didn't enjoy the game, I wouldn't have completed it. Doing all S ranks however feels a bit too annoying. I was perfectly fine and happy just beating the levels.
So know what you're getting into, when buying this. Its not a long ride either. I've beaten it in 2,5h.
