Mighty Switch Force Hose it Down is a puzzle game this time around where you get to spray your liquids all over those criminals that have all been released on account of good behavior.
Mighty Switch Force! Hose It Down! takes the colorful world of Officer Patricia Wagon and converts it into a focused puzzle experience where careful planning matters far more than reflexes. Developed and published by WayForward, the game places Patricia in Planet Land’s Fire Brigade during a crisis in Tangent City. Buildings are burning throughout the city, and her responsibility is not only to extinguish the flames but also to rescue any Hooligan Sisters trapped inside. It is a straightforward setup that gives the puzzle mechanics an immediate purpose without burdening the experience with unnecessary storytelling. The core gameplay revolves around sliding blocks across compact playfields to create usable routes for Patricia’s Infinity Dousing Apparatus, essentially an extremely powerful fire hose. Water must be directed toward every flame before a stage can be completed. At first, the concept seems similar to a traditional sliding or pipe-routing puzzle, but the challenge gradually becomes more involved because moving one block can change the usefulness of several others. Finding the solution often requires thinking about the entire board rather than concentrating solely on the nearest fire. A major reason the puzzles remain interesting is the variety of block types introduced as progress is made. Standard movable pieces establish the fundamentals before Turnpike Blocks, Mud Blocks, and Cloak Blocks complicate the layouts. Each changes how players interpret the board and prevents the solution from always being a simple matter of creating the shortest route between the hose and the flames. Mud introduces obstacles that interact with water, while the more unusual blocks require additional consideration regarding positioning and movement. The best stages combine these mechanics in ways that initially look confusing but become satisfying once their underlying logic is understood. The game contains 50 puzzles divided across 10 worlds, giving it enough room to develop its ideas without stretching the central concept excessively. This structure is particularly appropriate for a pick-up-and-play puzzle game. Individual levels can be tackled quickly, making it easy to complete a handful during a short session, while the later challenges provide enough resistance to encourage longer periods of experimentation. Fully illustrated cutscenes provide additional personality between the puzzles and reinforce the cheerful, cartoon-like atmosphere without interrupting the gameplay for too long. Rescuing Hooligan Sisters adds another entertaining element because the objective is not always limited to putting out fires. Their presence helps connect the puzzles to the larger setting and gives Patricia something tangible to accomplish beyond manipulating blocks. Even though the narrative remains deliberately light, these small touches make the stages feel more like emergency scenarios and less like abstract puzzle boards. The colorful character designs also fit naturally with the playful tone, ensuring that the firefighting theme never becomes overly serious. Speed Run challenges significantly improve replay value. Solving a level normally requires understanding its arrangement, but completing it quickly demands a much stronger grasp of the solution. After struggling through a puzzle for the first time, returning and performing the correct sequence efficiently can be surprisingly rewarding. This provides an additional objective for players who enjoy optimizing their performance and gives completed stages a reason to remain relevant instead of becoming disposable once their solutions have been discovered. The presentation complements the compact puzzle design extremely well. Bright visuals, expressive artwork, and clear environmental elements make the board easy to understand while retaining the distinctive personality associated with the series. Equally important is the soundtrack composed by Jake “Virt” Kaufman. Its energetic character helps maintain momentum during repeated attempts and prevents the slower process of studying a difficult board from feeling dull. The combination of lively music and colorful visuals gives the experience considerably more personality than its relatively simple mechanical premise might suggest. There are some limitations to consider. Players expecting the fast platforming and dimension-switching action associated with other entries may be surprised by how different this installment feels. It is fundamentally a sliding-block puzzle game rather than a traditional action-platformer. Its central mechanic is also deliberately narrow, so extended sessions can expose some repetition despite the increasingly elaborate block types. The 50-stage selection provides a respectable progression, but players interested primarily in lengthy or highly elaborate puzzle campaigns may find the overall scope modest. Steam Deck compatibility deserves some qualification. The Steam store page currently lists the game as Windows-only and does not provide an official Steam Deck compatibility rating for this specific title. Therefore, it should not be described as officially Verified or Playable. Because it is a relatively lightweight single-player puzzle game, unofficial compatibility through SteamOS and Proton may be possible, but players intending to use a Steam Deck should treat it as an unsupported or unverified experience and be prepared for potential configuration or compatibility issues. Ultimately, this is an appealing example of how a familiar series can be adapted to a different genre without losing its personality. The sliding puzzles are simple to understand but become progressively more demanding, while specialized blocks, rescue objectives, speed challenges, illustrated scenes, and a memorable soundtrack give the concept additional depth. Its limited scope and repetitive potential prevent it from becoming an essential puzzle game, yet its accessibility and polished presentation make it easy to enjoy in short sessions. For players who appreciate compact logic puzzles and cheerful presentation, it delivers a surprisingly satisfying firefighting diversion. Rating: 8/10

At first I bought this game thinking it would be trash, but it was really fun to play. Figuring out super hard puzzles under a stressful time limit was super fun. Totally reccomend this game to anyone looking for a chill puzzle game.
My main criticisms are the victory music, something about it is very grating. And that you can't continue to fire while moving blocks, it stops the stream entirely until you're done which doesn't make for very fluid [heh] gameplay. I feel like the times seem unreasonable given the mouse controls as well, and the previously mentioned thing contributes to that. However, I really did not feel like trying because it took me literally 7 minutes on some of them which had far less to get the start on the level. And as far as I can tell there's no benefit to even getting the par time other than the accomplishment of it. It's a neat little game, and I would recommend it. However, it is relatively short. Just 10 sets of 5 levels. Most of which aren't that difficult to figure out. But to par time it, is probably a lot more challenging. I only ended stumped by two, and one of them I just was so dreading attempting that I didn't even really try. [4-5 in the special levels]. I managed to par time probably 4 or 5 levels. Only one of which I did multiple times for the express purpose of doing it until realizing pretty quick that the times and required movements would not be fun for me. Cute visuals, music [other than victory] is fine. And the clear tubes add a nice memory aspect to things to spice up the 5th set of levels in normal and special sets. Not Wayforward's best game, but it's solid.
Game takes about an hour to beat, maybe even less. Its fun for what it is. Not much to say. What you see is what you get.

Having recently played The Mighty Switch Force Collection, I had noted that this game was absent. I had bought and played it some time ago, but never finished. Having returned to it, I can see why. It’s a simple game, simply moving pipe blocks around so that a water stream can reach particular destinations to put out fires; occasionally there will be a Hooligan Sister to rescue. I will say; the game isn’t bad per say (thus my light recommendation), but it feels very half baked (ironic for a game revolving around fires), here’s a list of issues I had with it:

The “mystery block” gimmick is okay, but almost immediately wears out its welcome and becomes frustrating just a few levels in.
The puzzles range from brain dead easy to just fumble about until it’s solved, none are particularly difficult or thought provoking, though some come across as tedious.
One of the great joys of MSF is the Par time gameplay. This game absolutely fumbles that. It appears that this game was designed with touch screen in mind; thus making it nearly impossible for the average pc player with a mouse to beat the levels within the time-frame. Despite having a pattern memorised for beating the level and redoing it dozens of times, I kept missing within milliseconds, and these were the first few levels. The game needed a little reconfiguring with mice in mind for the pc.
Add to the fumbling with the mouse, Clicking on certain blocks, or on Patty herself, feels a bit… off? Like I’ll be clicking on Patty (the player character) to start her hose and I’ll have to do it multiple times before she often starts. This is fine when playing slowly like you would a normal puzzle game, but since there’s a par time and every millisecond counts, this lack of responsiveness is quite bad.
I mentioned how there’s Hooligan Sisters to save, it took me a few minutes to work out what I was supposed to do with them, as there is nothing telling you within the game. It wasn’t a long time, but enough to leave a bad impression. (by the way, you need to drop them to the ground, and then lead them to the back of the building-- now you know)
So overall, not a particularly great game; however I still can give it a recommendation (though light) because as a simple straight forward time wasting puzzle game, it’s perfectly serviceable – on top of the gameplay you have the gorgeous artwork and lovely beats MSF is known for, and this game’s whole vibe and feeling (outside of the game) is just nice. Perhaps if I played this on a touch screen the experience would be far more invigorating and all my gripes would have disappeared. So if you’re looking for a cheap and simple puzzle game with a pleasing atheistic, and you’re not the type to 100% games (seriously, don’t bother, the par times are just too tight), though you can defo get better, this is still a simple fun time.
Fun puzzle game. Only complaint is that they never remaster the graphics into HD as was done to the prequel.
Short and sweet; "Hose it Down" offers a total of 50 pipe-tile puzzles and as a bonus, it throws in five cute pictures of fire-fighting shenanigans as rewards. If you're not interested in beating the game's par times, you may find yourself completing in less than 2 to 3 hours, but given this game's very reasonable price, a dollar for an hour of pretty gameplay seems more than fair! If you enjoy Wayforward's design and art-style, and if you need something to burn some time, definitely get "Mighty Switch Force! Hose It Down!" for a quick splash of fun.
