About
Midnight Snack is a short and surreal first-person horror game where you wander through an eerie forest using the dials of a microwave.
Alternative and experimental control scheme.
Retro/Pixelart 3D visuals.
Short and sweet, the game takes about 30 minutes to complete.
The controls are integrated into the interface itself, modeled after the dials of a conventional microwave. The bottom dial controls the camera direction, while the top dial determines how long the player moves. Once the time has been set, the controls are locked until the top dial stops turning, so be careful.
To interact with the dials, only the mouse is required.
The player must use these unconventional controls to navigate a strange environment in search of a snack, avoiding various obstacles.
The game takes place in the protagonist's recurring nightmare.
In this nightmare, the protagonist wakes up hungry in the middle of the night, viewing the world from the perspective of a microwave.
Before reaching the kitchen, he must navigate through a dark and eerie setting, even being attacked within the dream manifestations of his guilt.
Finally, upon reaching the kitchen and opening the microwave on the table, he will find an unpleasant surprise.

Quick and easy, can't go wrong with that. I really enjoyed the movement mechanics, it definitely helped with making the monster (which isn't scary on it's own) feel a bit more intimidating as you can't turn while the timer is going down.
cool simple game, achievements seem to be broken.
Personally wish it was literally just a very tiny bit longer but for what it is its not half bad. Definitely felt panic playing this lmao.

Cute game. The controls are both very innovative, interesting and annoying. Because of the difficult controls the game manages to feel intense. But it's not that the controls are bad, they are difficult on purpose. Other than the controls being the main factor of the gameplay I would not recommend this for anything else, but it's su creative and unique short game that it is hard to dislike. 7/10
super unique controls although a bit clunky at times. had a ton of fun playing this, and got a great scare out of it too. it's like 10 minutes long, just play it!
This game was really cool but weird. The controls are a cool, but I feel like there could've been more added to this game like, instead of a chase that ends the game maybe make it so that there isn't just one part that's scary. It isn't that it's bad, but it could've been better.
The most hilariously bad control scheme for a first person game I've ever seen. Hopefully some crazy challenge runner will beat Elden Ring with the "microwave" movement controls someday. Not sure if that would be easier or harder than beating it with a dance pad or guitar hero controller.
